Rite on Fritz you hit it right on the head of thee nail about Shooters Pub. I have been waiting to see if any one had any BALLS that would say their peace and see thee light i thought i was a lone. I won't go there for many reasons. I am not a member any more and that is one of thee biggest reasons from what u have stated. I herd thee club wanted to try and build up thee membership. Where are you going to seat them? Is that right no voting a little dictatorship. You are right again the PRINCE GEORGE VINTAGE MOTORCYCLE CLUB deserves better . But what do i know? Oh well. HAPPY NEW YEARS ALL

I don't know why everybody keeps missing the obvious answer-Steamers has been very accomodating for movie nights and you can see the bikes as well as see and hear everyone.

Good to hear your voice fast1 steamers has a lot of good points going for it. I heard complaints about thee food. If thee owner is a business man he will want to change that easy as one two three i would tell him. I am sure a lot of places would love to have a awesome group of people around like thee PRINCE GEORGE VINTAGE MOTORCYCLE CLUB. Even though i am not there in my heart and eyes thee people in thee club are the best and nobody can tell me different.

I thought the answer was rather obvious--- Steamers pub has been very gracious in hosting us on movie night, you can see the parking lot from the window, hear and see everyone, little out of the downtown so fewer "undesirables" and they could use the business- let's support them before they go the way of the Legion. Shooters has a lot of young people all the time and don't seem to be hurting. Just my opinion.  Remember though that opinions are like assholes- everybody has one and most of them stink!

The last time this was discussed AND voted on was several months ago.  The issue again came up as it had at virtually every meeting before.  The motion was passed to not entertain anymore motions about this until ... I forget the date but it is in the future.

Here is the problem.  We cannot get a unanimous consent.  Those not in favour say they will not attend if they don't get their way.  Every time there is a suggestion for a new venue, somebody does not like it.  Right now we have Fast 1, Bulldog (nonmember), Fritz and who knows who else who are not coming.  Move to someplace else, and others won't come.

If you want to do something constructive, why don't you suggest alternatives AND see if you can find unanimity.  Unanimity is the key.  Just complaining about the status quo is precisely why we voted to quit discussing venues at the meetings.

Despite passing a motion, I am sure this issue could be tabled ahead of schedule if there were a motion passed to hear such motion.  However, I would not even vote for a motion to table a motion on the venue change unless I was persuaded that there was a realistic chance of a unanimous vote (or strong majority).   If you guys want to build up a consensus for a new venue, and present that at a meeting as reason why we should entertain the vote, I would support that.  I will not support a motion that is just a rant about our current venue.

Do the leg work.  Answer this posting with positive suggestions.   Listen to those who disagree with you.  Try to find the common themes.  Consensus building may start with identifying the problem, but dwelling on the problem does not build consensus.

With that in mind I will start by saying that I want to stay at a bar.  I don't want to go to a restaurant.  My simple reason is I do not feel guilty purchasing only a beer.  When I am out on my bike, I prefer the rebel edge of a bar to the milquetoast ambiance of a restaurant.    If I were to be specific, I agree with Fast 1 about Steamers.  Not much room, but Darrel treats us right.

Despite the above, I will attend wherever we meet (except the Cassino).  I go to the meetings to hang with my buddies and talk about motorcycles.   We could do that in a church basement for all I care, but they probably would not approve of my beer.

Peace & Grease and lets have a civilized dialogue.   Dennis.

I would give the cassino the thumbs down for the reasons stated by others. As well, I feel the smaller businesses should get our attention. I'm with Dennis on the choice of bar over restaurant.

The people who run the upstairs at the Caribou where the Christmas party was held were favourable to us holding meetings there--kids can come and we can see the bikes?? Just throwing it out there as another alternative. Maybe a few more likely places are out there- suggestions please. Like Dennis said positive input, not just belly aching. God I wish thee damn Legion would open on Tues---

Fast 1.  You are on the right track.  Lets get some positive suggestions.  In the early stages lets keep our negatives to ourselves until we see a trend developing.  In my business, we call this brainstorming.  Create a whole bunch of options before parring them down.

Maybe start with some desired parametres.  What is important for a good venue?  Some ideas I have heard (not in order of priority) are:
-free
-sufficient room and amenities like tables and chairs
-parking
-consistency and reliability ie. will the venue always be available to us on our Tuesday
-location
-food and beverage
-psychology, do we feel welcomed and invited or a burden

Please add whatever you think is important.

I like bars because the servers are usually cute girls.

Hey, I'm brainstorming here.

how many licensed establishments in PG will have enough room to seat 40 members (possible summer number)  in such a manner as to not cause problems with their regular clientelle? where we could conduct a meeting without being interupted.
I am not overly familiar with the bars enough to answer this question. any takers?

Steamers is Great. Food is great. Service is great. Server is usually great. But beer selection in my opinion  is not very good . Perhaps this could be solved by taking to the proprietor.  Plus we get to view movies EVERY tues  without complaint.  Most of the members I see at movie nights are the same Core group who Ride on tuesdays during the Season . We don't seem to care where we go, as long as we're  BS' in and ridin' together. 8) So whats  wrong  with THAT.
