Motorcycle Awareness Show, Pine Centre Mall
« on: April 16, 2013, 11:58:32 AM »
I have attached a pdf with all of the details about the Motorcycle Awareness Show 'n Shine at Pine Centre, and a pdf of the floor plan layout (see below)

I will continue with posts encouraging members to bring out bikes.  We want a strong showing.  We won three trophies last year.

Peace and Grease, Dennis

Now that the information is up,  lets work on our roster.   While I am looking for commitments, at this point some members may still have logistics, ie bikes they'd like to show, but are uninsured and can't be ridden to the show.

I would like to hear who have trucks/trailers and would be willing to transport a bike to and from.  We are only allowed to haul bikes in between 9:00 and 10:00 p.m. on the Thursday night, and they have to stay until 6:00 p.m on the Saturday.

What I think would help is if we had some members who could "stand guard" at the Mall parking lot while we collect up the bikes that have to be transported.  Between "Transporters" and "Guards" we should be able to get our bikes together in one place outside the Mall, and then push them in during the one hour window they have permitted.   This will permit members to help bring in bikes, without worrying about leaving their bike in the parking lot while they help collect up others.

For example, I would like to put my BMW R65 in the show, I have a trailer which only carries one bike at a time (and I am taking another bike on the trailer), and riding one, so I would like to haul one down on the trailer, leave it with trusted guards, go and get the next bike, leave it with trusted guards, and then go get my rider.

I plan to bring: 1981 GS650 Mono Shock Conversion and 1981 BMW R65 for our display, and flat tracker for flat track display.

I am working on Russell Parker to haul in a bike (or two?) from Steve Crout.  Russell also has his beautiful sportster caf? racer which really should be shown off.   Russell will need a hand if he is going to commit to this much work.

Riding in is easy.  Let us know by responding whether you have a rider to bring and show, or a trailer queen needing courtiers, or if you can assist with being a guard or a transporter.

The whole point of the Motorcycle Awareness show is to let people know we are back out there. So look in your mirror. If it saves even one life it's worth it. Some support! CHEERS.

This is the current roster.  I will use the "modify" feature to update this as we go along.  The Pine Centre floor plan map (see pdf attachment above) allocates us space for 12 bikes, so that's our goal.   If your name and bike is on the roster, that means you can expect a phone call or personal message reminding you that you are officially guilt tripped into making sure your bike is on display.  If you see your name and bike on the roster and you did not commit, let me know and I will modify the list.  Similarly, if something comes up between now and then and you will not be able to go, let me know.  No for sure back ups.  If you are not on the list, and wanted to be, I can pull one of mine guilt free.

Dennis: 1981 GS650 Suzuki (mono shock caf? racer)
Hans: either his 400 Suzuki or his Yamaha 100
Neal: 400 Suzuki
Guy: either his BSA   A10 or B31
Wayne (Fast 1):  Kawasaki Chopper
Steve Crout: at least one British bike (whichever is easiest to remove from his garage)
Charlie: 70's Ducati
Russell: caf? Sportster
Bulldog: daughter's little Honda
Ted: 1977 CB550
Dave Blagdon: CCM motorized bicycle (he's says maybe ...)
Steve: 1987 K model BMW

That's 12 bikes so far (if counting Dave's CCM)  I think we should be fine (provided everyone brings what they have committed to).  There is actually more space around the corner if between us, the British Only Club, and the Flat Track display there is overwhelming support.

My trusted assistant Samantha made up some cool cards we can attach to our bikes.  I will print these out on light cardboard and have them available for whoever brings a bike.  Open the pdf attachment for a look.

Awesome Dennis, much better than the ones I did last year. Maybe we could get some more for the fathers day show and shine? Thank Sam for us too! CHEERS.

With the latest commitments we have 11 bikes (see above as modified today).  I'm leaving one spot in case someone wants to display a bike and they are not following the forum.

Next up is getting a "feel" for who can help set up and take down.  Russell has our table and banner at his shop.  Russell is also committing to transporting two bikes (Steve Crout's and his caf? Sportster).  Can someone who is driving a van or pick-up be responsible for our table and banner?  They have tables at the Mall, but the one at Russell's shop has our banner rather permanently affixed.

I do not think we need to work out a schedule for hanging out at the Mall during show.  This has never been a problem before.  I will be there at the start of Friday morning.

Peace & Participation, Dennis

I realize the Show is still a week away, but I don't want anyone stranded at the last minute.

Ted needs transport for his 1977 CB550.

That would be awesome Dave.  I may be the first to have to waffle on my commitments.

Down one bike (see roster above).  I committed my BMW to my nephew for his road test.  I did not realize it was on the Friday.

Anyone able to fill the void?

I can monitor the bikes on Thursday night.
My bike can go in the display but remember it is not ancient (only a 1987 model) and it is "K" series not "R" series.

K models are great.  A 1987 means its 26 years old.  That is old enough.  Now you are officially guilt tripped in.
This display is about our club and making people aware that it is riding season.  I am glad you are in.
