After spending several hours riding around today, I was down by Northland Chrysler when my throttle cable broke. I have broken clutch cables before, but never a throttle cable. Rather than rely on BCAA, I cranked up the idle adjuster so the engine would rev with no load, and between clutching and using the kill switch, was able to get home. It was actually pretty easy. A quick kill to shift gears up, and just shut the engine off and coast when I wanted to slow down gradually. The intersection of 5th Ave and Highway 97 was the most challenging.
The break is at the throttle. Hopefully just the end broke off because I have some cable parts and should be able to solder on a new end piece.
Peace Grease, Dennis
