Wheel Chocks
« on: February 16, 2012, 12:02:24 AM »
I would like to buy a portable wheel chock for my garage.
Have any of our members bought and used any that are a reasonable price and have proven to be a good product.
I am not one to work with metal but do you think I could make something effective out of wood?

Thanks

Bike or car? PA sells chocks for both. The "blue" one for bikes works well and is a copy of another brand that sells for ove 200$. Although it doesn't clamp a skinny front wheel very tight it could be adjusted with a little work.
They also have a rubber one for cars that works good on smoth surfaces as well.  Both of these come on sale at times.
There is someone on Kijiji that is trying to sell the bike one for 50$ (which is the PA sale price), you might get it a little cheaper if they still have it.

I want it for my bike so I can maneuver my motorcycle lift underneath the bike with the kickstand and center-stand out of the way.
Thank you for the information as I looked at the Princess Auto website but didn't see anything until now. I need to hone my online inquiry skills.

5 Bike Mike bought the roll-in chock at Princess, and I thought worked very well - but I haven't seen it again.  It is blue, Mike paid $50 for it, and as Ken says, it was a copy of a $250 one, like Terry Miller has.  It worked - we tried it out around my place - on average 18-19" front tires in the 90-120 range, or 17" x 120 modern sportsbike wheels, though it didn't like 130/16 fronts, as some big cruisers have.  This was about three months ago.

I think I just goofed.
I went to PA and bought a wheel chock (black) for 80 dollars and realized when I got home that it needs to be bolted down!!!
I will go back to look for the blue one as I want to be able to move it around.

The blue wheel chock that I bought for $50.00 and the same one Russell talks about is excellent, however PA says they only get them once in awhile , so one must keep their eye open for either a sale on them or whatever........they don't have to be bolted to anything and do work very well.......
