Because I have a love/hate relationship with my bikes, the most hated was/is the most loved.  It would have to be my Ironhead Sportster.  When it would not start (kick start only) I would work myself into a frenzy of sweat and swear words.  When it ran I was the coolest sum bitch in town.   It broke down on every long trip I every took on it (hate), but eventually took me everywhere I ever wanted to go (love).

My most hated bike was my 1947 Harley 45.  I know people are into those bikes now, hand shift, foot clutch, iron head etc.  But they were a rough to ride, slow and tended to lose parts at various inopportune times. There was no front brake and trying to operate the foot brake and foot clutch on a hill was a challenge to say the least.  It only had 3 gears when running well but sometimes it only had 2 when it did not.  It was heaven when I got my first Japanese bike, a 1965 Yamaha 305.  Foot shift, hand clutch, fast and reliable. I've had Japanese bikes ever since.

For road bikes I would have to say The CB 500.  I never could get it tuned just right.  We were so broke back then, I couldn,t afford a new starter when it broke down and it had no kickstart.  So with a sidecar, kid (2 years old) and wife I had to try to bump start it all the time.  We lived in Victoria at the time and if I stalled it (it was never tuned see above) I would have to push it through an intersection trying to get it started. It was a nice little bike and when the CBs are tuned up they are fast and reliable but they are finicky and a pain in the ass when they break down.

For dirt bikes my absolute most hated bike of ALL TIME was an old suzuki RM 250 it was a bike you would ride an hour and fix for 3 hours.  Never failed that bike was notorious for breaking down.  The biggest piece of crap ever manufactured.

When I was 18 bought a 650 lightning, pseudo chopper. Six over forks and no rake. I'm only 5'6 so it was a stretch. Eugene Fetterly made me some struts to help lower it but you can imagine how well it handled. Beezer that could actually wheelie. 1 gallon peanut tank and a big ugly bicycle style sissybar. Turned out the builder had to cut off the rear fender mount to make it fit. First time I took my girlfriend for a ride the fender came down on the tire. Back in the shop. Had a capacitor so no battery. God I hate Lucas. Hard starting with regular break downs. Between jumping on the starter and pushing (think I pushed it more miles than rode it) this bike kept me in excellent shape. Cured me of brits forever.

I never had a bike I hated, but I did have one I couldn't seem to ride.  Back in the '90's I bought one of the last DT200 Yamaha enduro bikes, which had good power and seemed light enough for my purposes, and had a modern-spec chassis, unlike the KE and XL enduros I had ridden years before.  I had a '92 YZ250 as a dirt-bike at the time and thought this would increase the opportunities to ride off-road, which it did, except that I fell off.  A lot.  Like just about every ride, and multiple friggin' times if I ventured beyond the shoulder of a paved road.  It was sprung softly, and even at my weight, would tap easily, so I had the ride height set high at the back, and every time I found myself halfway up a goat trail and needing to turn around (because I coudn't continue UP) , I'd put my foot down on the high side, which would unload the suspension, at which point I'd overbalance and go down flailing and cursing with my head pointed back the way I'd come, my dick in the dirt, and a trailbike on top of me.
The pseudo knobbed tires weren't able to deal with anything softer than hard-packed gravel and this combined with the soft suspension meant I was always trying to do slowly what needed to be done with at least some momentum, and, though the get-offs were uniformly from 3mph or less, it was ego-deflating to come back with thigh bruises and a sore elbow from such a tiddler bike all the time, and after a month or so of this I sold it.

At one point or another I hated My 1983 Suzuki 650 tempter (bad starter), my 1987 BMW K75 (unknown electrical ghost it would just die), my 1993 Ducati 900SS (not a cold weather bike wont start below plus 5c), another BMW K75 (water pump seal in the middle of our vaction), Also my BMW K1200RS (try and put the belly pan on you need 3 hands)and my Ducati 999 (take the plastic off without breaking something) oh I almost forgot my BMW f650GS ( have you seen where the oil filter is) I bought a nice skid plate to save the old filter now every oil change I need 3 hand to put the skid plate back on.
One the other hand bike I love/loved. My Suzuki it started my life long love for motorcycle. My 1987 BMW K75 It was black sleek I could look at it all day. My Ducati 900 SS the bike I thought a guy like me could never have Red loud piss off everyone I love it still. My second BMW K75 It was navy blue and the "fast S model" I could look at it all day. My navy blue BMW K1200RS replaced the K75 because I needed a bigger bike. My Ducati 999 (the ugly one) because the 900SS was getting long in the tooth and even thought it is ugly I learned to love it. My BMWF650GS I love to get it dirty. It looks better dirty

Can't say as though I have ever had one that I hated. Some broke down, some had ongoing issues, fell off of others, one just attacked my leg.  But all were just part of the experience.  Now if I had a big bucket of money, then someone else could look after the problems. Where would the fun in that be???

If I had that money I would still have the problems but then I wouldnt be worried about the price of parts either.  Mind you I would blow all that money on this obsession with motorcycles.

Not that I hated it but I just fell off it a lot. My first brand new hot of the showroom floor 1960 Ariel Arrow. Faster then the 250 Yamaha of the day, if you took 2 engines glued them side by each they made a great 500 class sidecar engine(yes someone did that).
Pressed steel frame, pressed steel leading link forks, a tank under your bum and a tiny tool hole where the tank should be. Put on dropped bars, rear sets, shaved the heads to within a mm of their rotten lives and tried to turn it into a GOLDEN Arrow(Ariels sport version). Then promptly fell off it again bent the forks bent the frame, hammered the crap out of it and rode it to a dealer and swapped it for a 1960 Super Rocket.
Them was the days.

this would have to be the 'starship enterprise', many hours of Kursing and kicking dirt. I am however learning to love the problem child. ::)

Been riding since I was 14 so I don't think I can honestly say I hate any of them but if there was one I'd surely like to set fire to and run over with a bus one day just for fun it would have to have been my 1984 Honda 650 Nighthawk. I bought it new from Richmond Motorcycles on their assurance this would be a great little commuter.
Well soon after I saddled up and took it home the fun began.  I would come out in the morning and start it up and she'd run fine for about 20 seconds then quit. Nothing I did would get her going again! If I waited for 30 minutes she'd settle down then start up and away I'd go for the day. Never had a problem at the end of the day, only overnight.
I brought the bike back to the shop 13 times in 11 months for the same issue and finally said "enough" and asked the Richmond gents to replace the bike under warranty. I was told it must be something in the way I was parking it overnight and I should be keeping it in my house or some other place warm and cozy.
I filed a small claims action against them and Honda Canada and much to my delight I won a great judgement against them (having the Rmd Honda Manager's big old 1989 cell phone go off in court didn't help his case and I deny any responsibility for getting my bud to call him from the payphone in the courthouse at just the right moment).
So I took the cash and bought a nice old BMW R75 from nice old some hippy on the Island and drove it daily for 4 years before moving to Prince George. Started out with about 40 pounds in each jug and finished after 4 years with the same compression.
So yes, the Honda really pissed me off but it did teach me a few things about not getting mad but getting even.
Been on Beemers ever since.

Since we're on about bikes to hate.......
I was coaching my son's baseball game in Ladner when I saw a fellow about 5' 8" come running across the field, over to his sportster which was parked nearby. He jumped on and started kicking it over as if his life depended on it but she wouldn't start.
A minute later a nice looking red head came running across the same field and when she got to the bike and rider she commenced to give him a whupping with her helmet, all the time cussing and calling him a cheater. Well, this went on for about 20 seconds or so and he was kicking away on the bike and she was whacking him with the helmet (I could hear the connects with his head) and finally the old gal started up and he shot out of  there like a man possessed.  I had a sore gut for an hour from laughing so hard (sorry Rusty/Dennis). I always thought that would have made a great ad for the Jap bikes. :P ;D
Why be normal?
