Allwyn Long Memorial Party
« on: August 07, 2011, 10:11:53 PM »
I confirmed that this is a go.

Saturday, August 20 overnight to the 21st.
Registration at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Poker Ride at 12:30
T-shirt, Patch
Motor cycle games (the usual including the ever famous weiny bite)
BBQ dinner Saturday Night and Pancake Breakfast on Sunday morning
Beer garden opens at 5:00 on Saturday ($4.00)
Live bands Saturday Night
Camping
$50 for everything.  If you want a camping space with hook ups (electricity) it will be more.

Last year Lauri and I went (other members included Fast 1, Stu and Kurt van der Lans) and it was awesome.   This is a good ol' school biker party. Despite having a beer garden, most people brought plenty for the pre-evening libations.  Very casual.  Lauri and I chugged around the campsite on the Chang and Fast 1 ripped through the campground standing on the seat of his chopper.

Peace & Grease, Dennis

Oops.  My bad.
Salmon Valley.  The campsite is on your right as soon as you cross the bridge.

Is it possible to come out for Saturday only?  I'd leave around dusk as my right signal does not work....any idea what cost would be for attending Saturday's BBQ?  Thanks.

Mike.

I'm hoping to solve my "familial obligations" by dragging my relatives (descending on me on very short notice) to come out and party with the bikers.  I may kill several birds with the same stone; one can drive my camper and the other can ride his bike.  The third can stay home and look after my daughter.  They just don't know it yet ...

Thanks for that.  I ended up helping a friend who needed monitoring after an operation until 3 PM.  Then I went with my wife to a birthday supper for another person.  As the evening got nicer and nicer I was so choked that I didn't ride out to this event instead!!!  Sitting in a stupid restaurant.  It is only a once in a 'summer' opportunity here to have a great day for a bike event, and I blew it.

Went well--attendance was about half of last year, poor weather and economy. Clayton, Jeff and Russ came then went? Jeff didn't even stay for food!!!! Good time was had by all. Did my first brakestand on grass-made the ground smolder. Easy on the tread though. Three days of hard work to entertain 40 people and lose money. Gotta be an easier way......

Fug.

I so wanted to go because I had such a good time last year.  An invasion of family scuttled my plans even when I tried to manipulate them into taking part.

The lack of attendance I would put on the weather.  It has been such a butt ugly summer that no one even wants to take a chance.  If you had 5 weekends of sunshine, and the forecast was the 6th might have rain, most people would go for it.  But when you have 5 weekends of rain, and the 6th is iffy, people are going to stay at home.

I think we, the PGVMC should get involved in this event in the future.  I am speculating that if it lost money, there is a lack of enthusiasm by the current organizers to repeat it.  Our club is probably the most active club in the city.  We were amazing when we built and raffled the R5.  We were the dominant club at both the Motorcycle Awareness and the Show 'n Shine.    I am sure we could put together a camp out biker party and at least break even.  I would love to know what actually goes into such an event.  I honestly have no idea.

Peace & Grease. Dennis
