Smaller front end

After having enjoyed my IT400 this spring and summer, the novelty has worn off and I am back on track to use the engine (and maybe the wheels) in a Vintage drag bike.

With this in mind, I am looking for a smaller (400cc?) street bike frame and forks.  I only need the neck stock from the frame.  If anyone out there has the remnants of an old street bike (preferably from the 70s) they'd part with cheap, please let me know.

Have a frame for CB350 twin you can have if you can get it to PG, also XL 250, same price. Have some fork parts and front wheel parts for both as well. Call if you're interested.

Thanks for the offer.  The XL250 would be great except probably too long.  I may visit Roy's "Bikes In Fields" and see what he has kicking around.

I got a 400 kawi late 70s i think....I would have to look at year since i got so many now hahhaha

I have the frame and the forks for a 1980 Yamaha 400 that Wayne gave Rusty that Rusty gave me. I am removing the motor now and I don't see a need for the frame.

Wasn't the upper triple clamp gone?  Or was it just the bearings themselves? Mike McLintock has a 1980 SR 185 with dented races;  I wonder if the races on an XS400 are the same?  Also, don't forget, it's a papered (or almost) frame, rather than a bunch of tubing: somebody might be able to use that.

Thanks for all the recent help, but I originally posted this request before I built my drag bike frame.  The bike is now virtually finished and uses the original It400 forks.   I am awaiting the arrival of a new ignition coil before starting her up for the first time.  Once I know it runs, it will be stripped down, welds which were only tacked for the mock up will be completed, painted and re-assembled. 

Then its a matter of fine tuning for screaming two stroke performance.

Shep- I may have an interest in the frame, was it papered?

Actually Fast1 provided a nice paperwork package with that bike, some of which will stick with Shep, I imagine.  It had already had the re-registration paperwork/declaration done, and a reproduction factory manual.  What plans do an XS400 registered frame help ripen?

I have everything that Fast1 gave Rusty that Rusty gave me. I need to look closer at the manual to see if it is better than the one I have for my complete 400. Otherwise the frame is for use by someone in the club.

What's the frame for, I have a bunch of XS 400 parts and a not so good frame. Would really like a good one with papers but even one that has not been butchered would be nice.
