Gold Wing Club
« on: July 12, 2022, 05:07:33 PM »
I am not sure what to call it club, group, assembly etc.  but I was just speaking to a friend in Vancouver who belongs to such a group said that the Gold Wing club is disbanding world wide. Their headquarters in Phoenix will be closing at the end of the month.  Apparently it is not a lack of interest but members are dying off and not being replace with younger ones.  I guess they cannot afford a new Gold Wing.  But the B. C. club is still going to hold their rally in 100 Miles House this summer.  They are thinking of starting a new group based in Canada.  By the way their Gold Wing club is the oldest in Canada or so I was told.

Along the same lines as diminishing club rosters - I just attended the Bee Gee Beemer Rally in Nakusp and noticed the same thing. Most of the owners/riders were 55+ with a few notable exceptions and many of them mentioned the same concern that there just wasn't the interest being demonstrated by the younger crowd.

I guess priorities change and things are looked at differently by the up and comers.  We all remember the fuss our parents put up when the Beatles first rolled into town.

Any suggestions on how to renew or ignite the interest from our younger crowds???  Or should we be prepared to see our bikes parked in the shed when we're no longer able to ride due to lack of purchasers?

I've already sold off most of my bunch for exactly these reasons.
Why be normal?
