A Tool for new garage has arrived

This was one of my winter projects--figuring how to freight an item from the manufacturer up to Northern BC.  It took a bit of figuring out and I picked it up from VanKam on Friday morning.  My wife (the great person she is), let me store it in the home office--until the garage is ready anyway.  Foot pedal operated, complete with internal slurry pump.  Of course, sitting in the home office it can't be used, there is no compressed air.

It's just for vapor blasting.  Very fine media is recommended (I ordered it with an inital charge of media)

That is a very interesting piece to add to the shop and the view out the window ,  to where it is to reside I see maybe some shop raising days in the new year . The new year is also giving us a  boost to the number of formerly employed members so hands could be available week Days .

Hi Olaf, steve van leeuwen here...  Can that fancy unit clean up a scuzzy old fuel tank?  I'm starting to tinker with my cb400 and i need the tank blasted clean inside and out...

Eventually, yes.  I've not yet got the compressor. 

At this point the only vapor blaster in western Canada who does work for hire is Vapor Blast Canada--in Chilliwack.  He does it on the side, his work is good, and he's open tuesday and thursday evenings.  Unfortunately, he's not cheap.

Hey, thanks for the advice Olaf!  I am gonna do some stripping by elbow-grease and get a better idea of what I am dealing with. I had the fellow down at inland radiator take a look at it and he said he can clean the inside up real nice and line it for me.  The next thing I gotta figger out is if anything can be done with the (shudder) electrical, something I am definitely gonna need help with.  A couple weeks ago I was feeling pretty overwhelmed by everything and was convinced I was gonna throw the whole thing on the scrap pile. I took a deep breath and stepped back for a bit.  With a bit of help I should be able to bring this thing back to life.

Whatcha working on?  Have you got an electrical diagram?  (if you do have a diagram, I don't mind helping--I've had some success with electrical de-bugging)

I'm trying to revive my '78 cb400...  I bought this thing in highschool and I or one of my brothers has had it ever since...  I don't have a diagram, nor do I have a printer and I am really unsure how to diagnose gremlins.  I have some functions, no cranking...  I need to plug in a set of signal lights at the back to see if they work.  This poor thing hasn't run in years, I have the carbs all apart for cleaning..  unfortunately my "workshop" is in utter disarray because I have been trying to insulate it.  It is a mess beyond all reckoning, but I should have it functional again with one more good weekend of effort..

In 1978 didn't Honda make both a 4 cylinder and a twin?   Which do you have?

This one is a twin...  I want to sorta "cafe racer" it with some rear-sets and clip-ons, I plan to tear out the air-box and run pod filters on it.  I will have to get some sort of exhaust made for it too, all I have now are header pipes...  I gotta figger out if the bike can even run before I go that far...

Lets start a thread about your bike.  This one is about Olaf's new toy ... I mean tool.

If you are going modify it your bike, then don't worry too much about the existing wiring problems.  Just cut out what you need.  If you start a new thread, we can dig right in an focus on your project.
