I confirmed today that I definitely do have horseshoes up my butt.
I spent the last few days working on the Atlas in preparation for another great riding season. New gas, cleaned and reset floats in carbs and drained the old remaining oil out (See Photo 1).
New oil in and tickled the carbs and she fired up on the third kick. Great!
Slapped on the helmet, jumped on and took it out for a 20 minute drive to work out some of the bugs from sitting for years. (see photo 2)
Brought it home, decided once is never enough and took it out again for another 30 minutes.
I was feeling pretty pleased that it ran so well and parked it for the night.
I woke up about 4 am thinking there was something important I had forgotten to do but couldn't put a finger on it. Puttered around all day and at 6pm it hit me.
I zipped into the garage and brought my trusty crescent wrench and sure enough, the drain plug was on it's last couple of threads, before falling out. I'd forgotten to tighten it right after draining the sump. I had signs on the bike saying "No Oil" and everything but I forgot to finish the first task.
