still can't add images
« on: February 11, 2019, 08:52:21 PM »
I've tried the image instructions, put the file location and image filename between the img inserts--and still no image.  For example:

The image is about 100k so it's under the limit.  Yet, still no image in my post.  What gives?

For the image tags, the file needs to be hosted on a 3rd party service like Imgur, you can't host the photo's from your personal computer..  You need to setup an account with Imgur and upload your photos there.  Imgur will give you a link that looks like this.....  https://i.imgur.com/xRmzxq1.jpg for each of your photos.  This is the link that you put between the image tags.  You need the link that has the JPG suffix.

ie "img]https://i.imgur.com/xRmzxq1.jpg[/img]"   <-- note that I had to remove the first square bracket in order to get the link to show.

will give you

You can attach the photos directly to the post using the "Attachments and other options" like you do with the minutes and it will look like this at the bottom of the post.  Terry has to clean out those photos from his server every once and a while as they eventually use up the limited disk space.

I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.

I use Imgur.  My posting is even easier.  Hans wrote, "... This is the link that you put between the image tags.  You need the link that has the JPG suffix."   I don't worry about that.

I won't explain how to upload your photos to Imgur.  Its childish simple.  I'll assume you can get that far on your own.

When I am at my computer and supposed to be working, I pull up the Club forum where I want to add a photo.  I open a second window for Imgur.  I go to the photos I have uploaded ... I just uploaded a screen shot showing my photos on my Imgur page.

I want to post the photo of my GS650 Caf?.  I click on that photo and you get ...

On the right hand side, there are various options for using the photo.  Click on the one marked "BBCode (message boards & forums)"  Its the one that is already high lighted green because I've already clicked on it.

The first time in a session it will prompt you to "allow access"; click yes

Switch back to the Club forum message board, scroll your curser to where you want the photo, and  press "control v" and its there.

This is my screen shot as I prepare this message.

Peace & Grease, Dennis
