Good source for bearings
« on: May 20, 2017, 10:10:29 PM »
Can't ride so I thought some cosmetic changes were due, long story short the back wheel needed to come off for the first time in I don't know how long? Axle was stubborn coming out, inspection showed galling on the shaft and closer inspection revealed a very crunchy ready to explode bearing on the sprocket side--lucky it didn't come apart on the track last year! Used to deal with Kaman but they're gone. Help!? CHEERS.

There's Motion Canada in the BCR site, but if you get the woman in parts just hang up.  Beyond utterly useless, don't get me started.  All Balls in the states has most any bearings you'll need.  FortNine.ca carries All Balls and shipping is free over $49, so that's the first place I always look.

Ya, Motion was less than helpful when I went in to get a couple bearings.  My $15 order seemed to be beneath the guy at the front desk.  Fortnine (Canada's Motorcycle) was good and inexpensive, but shipping took 10 business days last time I bought anything from them. It all comes out of Montreal.  Can always look on Amazon.ca if you know the bearing numbers, good deals can be found there.
I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.

Kaman bearing on 2nd Ave is where I usually go. I think it has been swallowed up by Wajax though. Worth checking out.

So when Wajax "swallowed" Kamon, did they just eat the good bits and spit out the rest?

Despite Kamon being a business for heavy industries, they were always receptive to the amateur/hobbyist who just needed a couple bearings "just like these ones."  That was my experience anyways.  Has anyone been to Wajax since?  Are they amateur/hobbyist friendly?

I used to go to Fastenal on the Hart and get small selections of odd ball bolts and screws.  Then one day I went there and they said they don't sell to the public anymore.  Lets hope that's not happening with Wajax.

Peace & Grease, Dennis

I didn't think the Wajax/Kaman store exists anymore.

If I want Allballs kits I go see Danni at the Yamaha dealership.  She ordered them for my Honda Quad, my Yamaha RD400 and for my classic Suzuki's.  She's smart, capable and a red-seal qualified Journeyman partswoman.

BC Bearing will sell to me because of my Canfor connection.  I'm not sure how they are with the public at large.

Motion and Wajax are one and the same if I understand correctly.

Long story short needed more than a bearing but with Russ' help I got her back together yesterday then waited for the sun to start sinking. Rode out to the Wilkin's park entrance, had a smoke and turned around. Stopped off at Dennis' on the return trip then meandered home, pulled around the corner of my street and it made a bad noise which got worse as I pulled up the driveway. Thought it was my now loose chain skipping. Fired it up tonight and the noise was still there, turns out all 3 screws in my new stator (installed by me) backed out and destroyed my new stator and cover. Bummer. Then the light came on and I realized what was needed was in my backyard! Stole the stator from the donor bike Neil gave me last fall, alas the cover is unusable. Rooted out my original which is jb welded but usable, gonna check Russell's
stock tomorrow-going to be out for ride nite dammit! CHEERS.
