Domano and Fyfe Lake Forest Service Roads
« on: May 14, 2016, 05:10:50 PM »
Took the XL600 from my place in College Height to West Lake going down the forest service roads today.  There are 3 gates on the roads that you have to go around.  The first is at the end of Domano, the bypass is easy on a dirt bike.  The second is just before the Domano FSR meets up with the Fyfe Lake FSR.  They extended the gate quite a ways into the bushes to discourage bypassing, but the quad guys have pushed a trail trough.  Pretty rutted and a couple mud holes.  The third gate is on the Fyfe Lake FSR, the bypass is less muddy but has a lot of tree roots.  Aa far as I know, it is technically illegal to gate unleased crown land, but since the Gov't put the gates up there would be little traction in getting them removed.  The gates are there to prevent teenagers and vandals from causing damage to the Tree Improvement Centre that is at the intersection of the roads.  The Domano gate is open on weekdays between 8-4, I think the other gates are as well.  If the gates are open, the road is easily passable by a street bike.  Saw 2 deer and a bear.

Edit: after reading the "Forest Service Road Use Regulation", the Manager of a Natural Resource District has pretty broad powers to "control" forest service roads.

I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.

If the gates are open, no problem. If not..... problem.
