Kootenay Bike is Now Mine
« on: April 17, 2016, 04:53:54 PM »
The bike registration sometimes takes a torturous and winding path.
A second declaration was required to verify the registered letter was sent and returned unopened as required by ICBC.
Luckily Dennis did a second Statutory Declaration regarding the unopened returned registered letter that had been sent to the last known registered owner as recorded by ICBC. All was finally acceptable to the Authorities once the 21 pages of information was sent to them down there (wherever the authorities authorize these important matters).
Basic story: A bike abandoned by the owner and left with his former partner was then put in her garage sale in Fruitvale about 2102 or early 2013. One neighbor saw it and told his neighbor (who was a bike enthusiast) it was going to be crushed at the end of the day if it wasn't sold. So neighbor number two bought it (not sure how much) and intended to restore it. He decided he had too many projects on the go so he put the bike up for sale without registering it in his name. I bought it.  I was left with registering a bike for which I had a sales receipt from neighbor number two but no receipt from the lady who sold it to neighbor number two or even knowing if it was her bike to sell.
This bike is weathered, has a few parts missing, has 19 912 kms on the odometer, was last registered in 1988 and most importantly is now registered in my name.
Thank you Dennis

I call that a win!
I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.
