GRADUATION!
« on: March 03, 2016, 10:31:43 PM »
Surprise phone call from Marion Rees today. Stu's youngest Elizabeth is graduating this year and her wish is to have her dear Dad's friends provide her a motorcycle escort since he can't be there himself. Choked me up a little. Friday June 10TH is the big event so we could have a second club ride in June for a very noble cause. Don't have the details yet but I suspect some would have to take at least a half day off from work. Just looking for interest and numbers right now, Bulldog could you please do me a big favor and re-post on your forum as well. I know Stu had many friends in both clubs. Would like to make this special for his daughter so the more the merrier. CHEERS!

Good morning Fast1. Thanks for the heads up about Stu's daughters graduation. Its a very special day and accomplishment for the young lady and family. Her special occasion has been posted on the Prince George British Motorcycle Club's Forum and also brought up at last nights meeting. We would only be to happy to be apart of this special day for her. It would be nice to ride as a group but only if you guys can keep up to are Old Girls? You know we don't want to be late. Its all good.

Thanks for doing that Wayne, yes I would like to ride and arrive united-- we should all be able stay together as long as Clayton (Hoff) doesn't bring his 45', does he still have that thing? CHEERS.

Turns out actual phone conversations are hard to pull off these days. Have to text or tweet or be on facebook. The weekend took me west to Burns lake so I stopped in at Diane's (Stu's ex) and got the scoop, spoke with his daughter also. Of his 3 children she has had the most difficult time with his passing and was very upset her Dad would not be attending her graduation which is how this idea was hatched. Diane has cleared it with the principal and is working on a police escort. Grad ceremony is not actually until 7:00 p.m. Plan is to congregate at Diane's house in Engen at 6, meaning we should leave here by 4:30. She actually want's a chauffeur so gonna put a permit and some semblance of a back tire on the chopper. Chrissy and Vinty (guy with the crazy turbo Triumph) are sponsoring a barbecue at their place. Would love to see a good showing for this. On my way home this afternoon I contemplated pulling the tarp off the table, about a mile before getting there we met a v-rod that looked like he could have used a place to warm up. Ian did an excellent job of tying the tarp down, much better than I could have done for sure. It is now tucked back on a stump covered by a stump. A few black marks but seems to have wintered well. CHEERS.

Barbecue is set from 4-6 at 12243 Giesbrecht frtg rd. Ride will commence from there at 6:30. I'm going to give Elizabeth her father's black and white jagged leather jacket. Figure out a ride from here time and location as the date draws nearer. CHEERS.

Why do today what you can put off till the last minute. While you were all having fun at Olaf's I was busy working on the chopper. It is now at the height it always should have been thanks to the Sportster low shocks gifted me by Huey. Used tires front and rear 'cause one was leaking and one was bald, charged battery and fresh fuel made it run again. Just have to make it and the jacket shiny again. I am thinking Bon voyage 3:30, For those not able to leave that early the aforementioned address is about 10 km. from Vanderhoof on the left side with a fore and aft entrance so if you miss the first 1 don't fret. See ya' there! CHEERS.

Transferred insurance today, filled it with fuel and gave her a bath. Was worried the shocks would bottom and the tire would hit the fender but no fear-I have 2 rigids now. They don't move at all. Sure is nice to put both feet flat on the ground in sneakers. Definitely changed the handling and looks, it actually feels longer--could be just because I haven't rode it in awhile. Looks like the weather is going to suck but rain or shine I'm going, hope to see at least the stolen Sportster. Last year bought a cover from Yamaha at a discount that said it was for a large scooter, fits the chopper end to end and top to bottom, telling me it would also fit Clayton or Brad's wing. Scooters must have grown a lot! CHEERS.

I never trust the Weather Network until the forecast is for just a couple of days.  Its looking like strong possibility of storms.  However, at this time of year that usually means a sudden cloudburst between sunshine (like today).

I'm leaving the windshield on the Stolen Sportster, getting out the rain pants, and brushing the dirt off my Outback oilskin coat and hat.

Peace and Precipitation, Dennis

Awesome Dennis! I extended an invitation to the British club to join us on their forum and talked to Chrissy yesterday. We should have at least 10 bikes no matter what the weather. CHEERS!

well for those of you who missed out Dennis and his stolen sportster along with me and Allwynn's chopper had a good day. Not a drop of rain fell on us the whole time. Ride there was swift and uneventful. Lots of food and happy thoughts---nice to see motorcycle friends at an event other than a funeral. There was lots of food and B.S.ing Then 7 motorcycles with 3 passengers set off. Chrissy and I in the lead, Elizabeth with me and her boyfriend with Chrissy, They were grinning at each other for the entire ride. Our arrival created a bit of a stir and a lot of noise. Hugs and handshakes were aplenty, along with a few tears. Ride home was much like the ride there. Totally worth the effort! CHEERS.
