yup, about 7 or 8 of us.  We can rig up one TV to watch stuff.  If someone has a spare blueray player or a player with HDMI output, then we can watch DVD's.

Why doesn't the club buy what we need., a cable and player and then we can leave it at Steamers.

I don't know what kind of executive quorum may be required, but as Vice-president, I would certainly authorize the purchase of whatever electronic gizmos needed to re-instate movie watching.  Along with Shep's implied authorization that makes two of us.

If this breaches our Constitution, I say go buy it and I'll pay for it.  I just have no idea how to wire these things up.  I gave up watching TV at home when I could not figure out how to change  from the Disney channel.

sounds like a good idea however, when we asked brock if he would save us that area for our tuesday meetings he said no... he wouldnt reserve it for us.. so we may be buying something for something we may not be able to use all the time.

Unless thats changed, Im not sure id like to leave a player or something there for brock to use.

That being said, Hans.. what about a google chromecast? Or, a 13 dollar HML cable to use your nexus (or mine) to play movies on.

Nexus, plexus, schmexshlus.   Sometimes I feel I am like that guy at Canim Lake with the shed of VCR cassettes.   I knew how to use a VCR ... well sort of ... I could play a cassette of "Footloose", but I couldn't record an episode of  "Dallas" to watch later.  My VCR always flashed "12:00"

Brock won't reserve our spot?  What about simply reserving our being able to watch what we want?  If there happened to be some cowboys in there (the side room) drinking beer, they'd probably get up and leave because they'd realize they were .... um ... intruding, or they may get a kick out of watching our movies with us.  If the situation were that Brock will not even guarantee that we can use the TV etc on the Tuesday, I say lets go elsewhere.  Really.  He is/was a shirt tail club member, and is certainly a bike enthusiast, but there needs to be some give and take.  I can understand if he does not want to jeopardize customer space for something not guaranteed, but if one night he said we couldn't watch our movies 'cause there were some customers in there watching a hockey game, I say "sorry, we're going elsewhere."

I like Brock personally because he is a motorcycle geek like the rest of us, but I worked for him for years when I was a musician.  During one gig at the old Tabor Arms, there were NHL Playoffs on TV.  He told us (the band) not to start until the game was finished. We were okay with that and waited about an hour.  He then asked us to shorten our breaks and play longer at the end because we started later.  "No" (edited short polite version of discussion) was our response.  When it comes to running a pub he is all business.  If it does not result in more beer consumed, it ain't happening.  Period.  I re-iterate; I like Brock personally, but for him, everything is about beer sales.

it is roughly the same in there.  Last couple of times there has been 2 other people finishing dinner up there, and they leave with 45 minutes of us showing up.  The rest of the place is dead as normal.  So, we are buying beer and tipping Wendy.  Beats not having us there.

I purchased a Western Digital Live player.  It can play anything off of a thumb drive, so anything we find on youtube/internet to watch works just fine.  Or can even rip the DVD's to it and that works too.  Just an extra step.  If they have a wireless connection, then we could youtube or Netflix.  Some good M/C related stuff on Netflix.  Playing the DVD's directly is simpler though.  The easiest hookup to the TV is with an HDMI cable, so any newer DVD/Bluray player will work, as will a computer/laptop with a DVI to HDMI cable.  The real issue is that the TV only has inputs on the back and space is tight to try and hookup multiple of bulky cables.

I picked up a DVD player for the club, a cheap blu ray one, so it'll be good for a while.  Can I get reimbursed next meeting.
