Looking forward to watching your build. Its kind of risky putting out a build thread, because then you have to make progress 'cause your buddies are watching.  I only have my XS650 on the build thread right now, although I am actually also working on my 883 Sportster.  I am afraid I will lose interest again on the 883, so maybe I should start a thread on that one also.

That matchless and the style you have planned for it is awesome.  The original stripped down bobber.

Now the pressure is on.  I will have to free up the enging first but am looking forward to a 500 thumper.  I wanted one ever since i was a kid!.   I moved it up to the house last weekend and is now sitting at the front door.....taunting me to not do fall chores but to get building bikes.
Once snow flys all chores are off!  then its full bike build time!!!

Some more pictures of how the rebuild is going.
New (old) shocks installed in rear.  Transmission has been taken apart and cleaned up.  Will need new bearings and seals.  piston  broke (pissed and broke) on new years day trying to free up the engine and I am now looking for a new piston, rings and cylinder preferably.  will likely require some bearings and seals for that.  I ordered new rims and rubber, but otherwise am keeping it as rusty and vintage as will hold together.  I have a campbells soup can holing the primary cover together and once done im sure many will cring, some will laugh but I will smile.  I hoping this is going to be a bad ass little (big) flat tracker.

so matchless rolling stock is ready...  new handle bar controls, front end assembled (backwards i just found out but its an easy fix)  tires mounted and rear fender on.  Missing my new drill for some reason and im sure my shop has goblins moving stuff on me.  made up an ugly seat but it will do for now.  new rear brakes arrive tomorrow.  it is starting to look like a bike!  after a long winter of tedious prep work it now feels as though I am getting somewhere.  I am fighting with my I phone to try and upload photos so hopefully they work.
Hope you are all having as good a weekend as I am.
