Antigravity Batteries
« on: March 08, 2013, 12:09:32 PM »
These have been receiving rave reviews.  I want to buy one so I went to their webpage as follows:

http://antigravitybatteries.com/

Once the page opens, my computer controls freeze.  This does not happen with any other webpage, so I am assuming it is a problem on their end.  I phoned and talked to a fellow there about the batteries, but also explained the web page problem.  He said they have had no other compaints about it.

I told him I would conduct a quick survey to see if anyone else has this problems.  Sooo ... would you click on the link above and see if you can navigate around their webpage.  If not, let me know.  I have arranged to report to the fellow (Eric) directly.

Peace, Grease, Amps & Ohms.

Hey Dennis , the site works fine for me.  And wouldn't ya know it, they got both my bikes covered when it comes to batteries.  When and if i start having Battery issues, I may consider spending twice as much money for the sake of Science!! Til then i'll stick with my lead acid lumps .

Dennis the site worked OK for me just he prices did not quite work for me.  I guess I am cheap.  Also I have heard that the standard charging system does not work for lithium batteries.  Not sure what the difference is.  A friend has a truck with an electric motor and lithium batteries and is unable to recharge it at my house but has to use a special charger at her place.  So you might want to make sure that your charging system works for the battery.

Thanks for the comments.  I guess there is just something weird about my computer.

In the end I went to both Interstate and Battery Direct.  For a basic little battery, $48 at interstate and $32 at Battery Direct for the same battery.  I asked at both places for the small jell celled.  Interstate had nothing small (but did try to sell be one of those emergency light back up batteries which I have tried and had catastrophic failure with ... on a hardtail), but Battery Direct had a small one for $44.  The problem with small motorcycle batteries is that they are best charged with low amps.  In the end I was persuaded to also buy a new trickle charger which will charge at 0.75 amps with an automatic over charge shut down feature.

The Antigravity batteries do require their own charger which is another bummer.  The salesman I spoke with said they hardly ever use them.  He said they have one which has been on the shelf for three years and has only dropped 0.3 volts.   They sure look good though.  Low Brow Customs makes a mounting kit in machined aluminum which is really slick ($70), but for now the flat tracker will remain low buck, so I will fabricate my own bracket to hold my new jell cell.

What I find interesting is that no mention is made of any need to modify your charging system.  It would seem with lithiums that there would have to be some change there...I suppose it could be built in to each battery.  They did not say anything about car batteries, I wonder why they are not going in that direction also?  I just weighed my bike's battery, it came in at 10lb 11 oz.   Still only about a 2% saving on a 400lb bike.  If a person is really weight concious it would be a yes, for most of us why spend the extra money.  Idealy I should lose 20lbs....equivilent to 2 batteries......just much harder to do, haha.

If anyone wants to actually feel an Anti-Gravity battery, Gary down at the Suzuki dealer has a YT12BS-16 that Terry Miller ordered for his Ducati and then was unhappy with the fit of - they won't have it long, probably, and it has a current price of $390 or so, but the Lithium-Ion batteres are certainly light, and holding one in your hand is sort of a thrill.

They don't have anymore. I did get everything sorted out. All I can say is "WOW". The Duc fires right up on cold mornings now
