78 GS 750 Seat
« on: February 19, 2013, 05:13:40 PM »
Go figure, ripped seat cover left outside = rusted seat pan. Would like a complete seat or at least a good seat pan for my GS, foam is still good and I can buy a new cover but one side is quite rusted. Will be coming through P.G. in late March and would prefer to trade rather than part company with after tax dollars. Would be willing to work something out either way, need a place to sit while riding. PM me, email mrb35@telus.net or call 250-847-6676, if no answer please leave a message. Thanks, Bob

Coming to town in late March again, will be bringing cash. Still need a good solid place to plant my butt while riding.
Thanks, Bob

Hello Bob.

I don't have a seat pan, but thought I would share my experience with my wife's 78 GS 750 seat pan.   She had the same issue; it was quite rusted out.  I re-enforced the rusted out part with fiberglass.  The edges were the most rusted, and there I just built up a bunch of fiberglass and then carved it back to the shape of the original.  I then had Mike Hyland do the upholstery.

Peace & Grease, Dennis

Thanks for the info Dennis, if I can't find a better one than mine that is my next option. For now it's on the bike an working but I know it will need to be fixed at some point.
