Any one have any info on a couple bits of info...... First the clutch cover for a 52 bsa a7 (bulldog maybe you know) I just put a new clutch in and my drawings show an inner clutch cover.  Is the clutch meant to be semi dry? Is the cover necessary?
Second, there is a slipper tensioner on the primary chain.  Is this meant to have some sort of Bakelite or Teflon slider pad on it? I don't see any holes or any way to attach a pad.  Any info you guys may have would be a huge help.  Thanks

Found a clutch cover used in the UK.  The unit was supposed to be a dry clutch (explains my leftover gasket after putting engine together)
The slipper plate for the primary does not have a slide plate on it, wierd but apparently correct for this year.
Dont know if anyone cares but thought I would share anyways.

I find this interesting the way things were done back in the day.....
I looked into this  a ways back on a couple of my bikes.....Found an article about a guy who had modified his tensioner...

-I made a slipper block out of a Loggers wedge  ....NOT a good move...made a mess...MR.Rusty Bucket gave me a piece of some REAL stuff and that worked much better- that must be some Hard steel they used...

ya from what I can tell it is just to keep it from slopping around more than tensioning it.  I was considering putting some sort of teflon sloder in there just as your picture shows.  Would you recomend it?  Or was it more hassel than its worth.  I was debating thickness to install but ended up just not doing it.  It does make me nervous though.

My 1968 BSA A65 and prior had 3/16" glued on it and 1969 on didn't have it. My B25,
B44 and B50 doesn,t have any. Up to you as long as it sticks. If it comes of you will a mess.

Qball check drive and friction plates 4 warp-edge. Tape fine grit paper on glass spin or back and forth and you will see. Did you get the oil out of the friction plates Qball? What we discussed on the phone will work. I am glad Kurt got on it rite away 4 you. He's a good man to have on board.

Bulldog, I havent cleaned the plates yet I have the CX down to bear frame right now and am waiting on the clutch cover from UK on the BSA.
I am getting Super excited as I just got the papers for the honda,

BSA will be running for vernon this year just need to finish getting it papered. Im not sure if I will drive it all the way but will be bringing the truck anyways swapping driving/riding with anyone interested or wife and daughter may drive it down for me and go visit relatives so to put the bug in everyones ear....does anyone want to chip in a bit and provide a larger trailer  I can tow down to ensure adequate support vehicle and or a couple extra gas bucks?  Last year I broke down, bulldog broke down and charlie made us a little nervous on the late night driving comming home.  It would be nice to have a trailer we could load up bikes into to give any of the riders a break or in case of equipment failures.  my truck is a 2009 king cab so there is room to seat 6 if need be, not that every one wants to drive in a truck but just in case of incident.  If anyone else would rather take their vehicle and a trailer as support instead of me I would be more than willing to chip in some money to take the sting out of gas prices.  Not saying anything bad but we are all getting a little older and not quite as willing to endure some of the motorcycling hardships we used to.

As we get closer to the date for Vernon, we should start a thread on travel arrangements.  I don't want to take my gas sucking pig camper down again this year because it cost me almost $400 in fuel (although I did take the long route home).  I will be taking my flat track bike down either in my gas mizer pick up or ???.  I would love to ride if my BMW is up to it and I can make arrangements to still have my flat tracker for racing.  Its good to start making plans early, however, I know that many people (myself included) often can't make final arrangements until closer to the departure date.

Qball i have a 5 bike trailer now we can take for flat trackers and in case for back up etc. and back of your pickup for 2 more, and yes split expenses , good plan. The old A7 will just do fine but she needs a rest on the way like we all do, like you say we are getting older and they are to. Like you said we can all spell off on the driving works for me. Charlie, i think wants to ride his triumph and i think there will be at least 8 or 9 other Brits going down this year to.

I am planning early not getting left in the cold like last year whether flat tracker was ready or not. Long story. Lets put a package together Qball so we know where we sit at that end one less thing to worry about.

Ok then guys
I will commit to this right now then.  I will bring the truck, Bulldog we will use your trailer (can you have it ready to go?  bearings, greased ect?), we will have room for 7-9 bikes (we can get creative with packing if need be.) Id say 6 bikes planned with the vehicle will give us room to swap in a couple others should catastropy strike. The truck has no problem with weight.  Anyone that wants to lock in a for sure, let me know and we can account for it and make plans.
The reason I want to plan now is I have taken on two major projects for work, one in saskatchewan and one in newfoundland so my time is going to be tight for the next 6 months, if I start planning now I will be ready by the time we want to go. I have my BSA and a flat tracker I want to go with.  I figure Bulldogs flat tracker and peggy's makes 3 bikes that can fit in the box of my truck.  My BSA on the trailer swaping out for bull dogs or peggy's depending on who needs a break, makes 4 bikes loaded.  we got room for 2 more flat trackers (denis if you want a space) is guy, kurt or charlie bringing a flat tracker?  If any one can commit we can have this arranged before end of january. wooohhhoooo! were goin to the races!

Im so excited i could piss myself, just not in the truck :P
