FRIDAY NIGHT TEST AND TUNE
« on: August 08, 2012, 12:10:47 AM »
Be there or be square. Dennis has his bike ready to tear up the track. Be there before 6 if you want to run. Any time after to watch. Friday night if your not familiar with the track is "run what ya brung". A chance to see what your machine can do.  Not really racing, just a timeslip and bragging rights. We haven't done this as a club  for a couple years now. Wonder if Hans' new Yamaha is faster than Roseanne? Will the chopper break in to the 12s? Can Dennis stay on his little rocket? These and many other questions to be answered at the track. Can't wait. Cheers.

It's not open on all Friday nights, so here is the website.

Well it seems like they do not have this Friday on that list....but it would be unusual for them not to run on a non long weekend (the way it was in the past)....I called them to make sure and the 17th is their next race night.....so I guess that will be when you all show up there?  I kind of don't like running my one and only bike hard anymore...it still has the original clutch in it, etc..I know, excuses, excuses....but someone has to take pictures right?  Hopefully it will not be rained out as our great weather starts slipping away.  If you have never made a pass check out what I wrote up under 'CMDRA drags' on this site...some info on staging, etc.

I attached my last timeslip, this is what a healthy Maxim X will do at that track.

Bummer.  I also called.  They ARE NOT open this Friday.  Northland is having their company golf tournment this weekend.  The general rule is every Friday that is not a long weekend, but this weekend is different.

Is the test and tune this Friday?
I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.

According to their schedule it should be. On their website they are calling it "The Full Blown weekend" If you click on their link you even get to see a video ad for it.

By the way, if memory serves me correctly, it's 30$ to run in Friday nights.

I finished the drag bike last night.  Its still dry though ... I will add oil to the tranny and mix up some fresh gas/oil mixture.

Fast One: What is the name of that two stroke oil you recommended?  Purple something?

This Friday will be interesting because there will probably be lots of people arriving who plan to race on the weekend.

I plan to be there around 5:30 so I can set up my camper and awning so I can hang around and soak up the racing ambiance.

I hope to see some members there.

Think it was only 20 last time I went.. not that it matters. Blue marble is the magic oil. Still need your main jet size! Cheers.

Fast 1 , It used to be 20$ but that was about 2/3 years ago when you last raced on a Friday, wasn't it?  Rosanne ( rest her dear old soul ) was still running then. ....Hans...... did you bury her yet???? :o I was told that last year was 25$.  30$ is a bit steep though when you may only get 4 passes in the whole night, as was the case a few weeks ago.

Four passes for 30 bucks does seem a bit steep, but its got to be better than the pass I took down Tabor tonight risking a big fat fine.

My bike missed and farted a bit so I shut it down.

2 more days......2more passes. ;D

After all, the fun in riding is the all about the risk. Otherwise we could sit at home and watch tv or read a book.

Friday night passes are limited by the number of entries and the number of break downs.

In the past when all was well you could make as many laps as you wanted, some nights 20 passes were easily a possibility.  It is true they may be taxed a bit with more than usual people showing up.  They tend to not ever start at 6pm.  So maybe when in tech inspection ask if they are going to start on time...if not ask why and suggest they get with it (as advertised)....the light will be almost gone by 8:30pm now.  Several things could slow or stop the action, so I suggest you not dawdle...get as many runs in early that you can....if all goes well you should be able to get quite a few runs in if you want.  Look forward to seeing you guys out there....I will spend some time at track level with my camera, shadows can cause photo difficulties, but will see how it goes.
