Risky Intersections in PG
« on: July 18, 2012, 06:43:10 PM »
Unfortunately a friend while riding his motorcycle yesterday was hit by a truck while in the Ferry Avenue -- Highway 16 intersection. My understanding is he sustained major injuries and is in hospital awaiting surgery. He apparently was not at fault.
Another friend less than six months ago was hit in this same intersection and his new small SUV was written off by the insurance company. He and his wife sustained minor injuries.
This is only a note to be extra vigilant  at this intersection.

Having passed through an accident scene at Massey and Ospika at around 5:30 this afternoon, I would add the note to be wary of accident scenes for another, slightly different, reason - copious amounts of slippery anti-freeze/engine oil/fuel on what might be your chosen line.

I thought the potholes choose your line for you?  There are so many goofy intersections in this town.  Most of the ones involving a merge are bad, not by design, but by drivers not understanding the concept of merge.
I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.

I don't know why the merge lane should be such a problem. You simply drive partway through, slam on the brakes, and wait for the traffic in all of the other lanes to go by and then you slowly merge into the other lane. Really very simple. At least that is how I usually see it done. :o :o
