Consultation paper on new regs coming down the line.
« on: July 13, 2012, 04:32:02 PM »
This is mostly about new riders.  Quick synopsis, 98hp limit for new riders, zero alcohol tolerance for L+N riders.  Change in L+N period.  Exploration about making rider training mandatory for new riders.

I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.

Read into this.......limit riders on the road!!! maybe train moterists how to see bikers.  Mind you I think we should limit new riders from owning race bikes but I fear we will end up like britans bike licencing.
Keep your knees in the breeze and the rubber side down.

I wouldn't like it if I was the new rider. But as the old rider there may be some benefits. The accident in Kelowna for example, Who's fault was it? The driver of the VW that may have seen the bike yet not realized how fast it was traveling, or the rider of the bike not being prepared to stop/avoid someone doing the unexpected.
I would like to have the money and opportunity to take the rider skills training that is available to the police riders. If we viewed the motoring world as if they were all trying to kill us on purpose, then the more skills we have  the better equipped we would be  to survive.

Hey Hans - 98hp limit!!! for new riders. I just wish I had 98 horses left in my old girl. Ahhh back in the day when 50hp was considered monstrous for a motorcycle.

The new Cycle Canada has a couple of interesting articles on the helmet issue as well as the licensing topic as well.
