I have had better
« on: May 24, 2012, 08:59:10 PM »
This is really not a motorcycle topic but I thought I would let the club know.  While on our trip to Ontario I had to stop in at the hospital in Sault Saint Marie and get checked out. Turns out I have cancer of the colon.  The surgeon operated with in two days and removed about a meter of colon.  Prognosis looks good and I feel as normal as I usually am.  So not so sure of the riding this summer, might just be wrenching.  I hope to at least meet who ever turns up at A&W or Shooters.  To tell you the truth I would rather not talk about myself but I figured I Would let  everyone know at once.

Hey Donovan

Hoping you get feeling better soon and get back here when you can.  Cheers from Hans, Guy, and Neil.
I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.

Yep, simultaneously sorry this has come up and relieved you are mending so readily:  you aren't missing much on the local riding front - it still feels like apres winter rather than almost summer here, and the condition of the roads is truly offputting.  Ride night is more like a motorcycle stampede.  Look forward to seeing you when you are up to that.

Sorry about your prognosis, glad they caught it early! Timing is as important on these things  as on an old motorcycle...too advanced and it will throw you over the bars and not run. Will pray for you and if you need anything don't hesitate to ask!!!!!!!! We are here for you.

When I read something like this I am torn.  I do not know many of you well, yet on this site you can sort of get to know people a bit.  I share the sentiments already given.  Donovan (and the rest of you) I should let you know I have a very good understanding of the bible and who God is.  I do not mean to highjack this tread, but when our bodies start to fail and even when things are good I would say if a person has any desire to know God .... pursue it like nothing else.  I know most people do not care to talk about seeking God these days, and that is where I am torn.  I do not want to come across the wrong way, yet if I am to be true to what I believe I have to at least say something.  Too many Christians are afraid to speak up on the most important issue any person will face...a person's eternal destiny.  My concern for people must overcome such fears.  For what it is worth I am willing to talk to whoever wants to on this topic.  I also leave people alone who do not want to, that only makes sense.  Donovan I will be praying for you in this situation, I wish you the best.

I feel the same way on this topic. If you can find a copy read Illusions-the adventures of a reluctant messiah by Richard Bach( the guy who wrote Jonathan Livingston seagull). If you can't find it I have a copy you can borrow. Changed the way I think on the subject. I also believe in the power of the spirit to heal, if hypochondriacs can use it to make themselves sick why can't others use it to make themselves well!!!! I refuse to get sick as I don't have time for such nonsense.  P.S. my last post should have said diagnosis not prognosis. Wishing Donovan well.

Illusions is a great read - not too heavy, interesting and easy to get through. Set  in the 1920's/? and more about barnstorming bi-planes than religion, if I can remember back about 30 years- when I read it last. Should read it again...

Hopefully , Donnovan , You don't have to go throught too many Kehmo sessions. My Mother was diagnosed in Nov'11 and prounounced Clean  by March...  So catching cancer early definately was the key  there.  Hang in theremy friend  ;)

good luck with your cure. My buddy is going thru exactly the same thing and I can see the hurt he has, but like you he is tough and tough people find a way.

Thanks for the support every body.  It is looking good so far just have to wait for the pathology report, but I will take what ever comes.  I am to be released from the hospital this coming weekend and then we will spend a few days here before flying home on Tuesday.  Glad to here there have been a few ride nights so far.  Not sure how much riding I will do but will at least have to make an appearance on a Tuesday night.
