Replacing a lost key?
« on: May 09, 2012, 08:11:25 AM »
I may have misplaced the (only) key to my bike. It has been AWOL for a couple days and today I get a break from work to search out all my pockets, etc..
If I can't locate it - anyone have ideas who/how to get it replaced before the weekend? The weather is predicted to top 20C.

If you bring your ignition to Trident keys they can make one for a price. Try some of the other keys you have around. Early bikes had simple switches and not very many different cuts. I had a friend who bought a gpz 750 the first year they came out-it would turn with the wiggle of a pen knife.

Trident is great.  I took in the ignition for a old Kawasaki from the 70's.  20 minutes later I had a key which fit the ignition, helment lock and seat.  I forget the price but it was well worth it because otherwise I would have used my angle grinder to take the seat off.

Thanks to Wayne's suggestion I have a key that will keep me riding without interuption. Still can't get under the seat yet, and my papers are in there. Oh well - I always try to not be pulled over... or have a dead battery. lol
That should give me a few days to locate the keys, or have a couple made.
