Isn't the show on Discovery HD? (which I don't get) I have season 1 and 2 on discs, or mostly, anyway; but my discs come from a guy in Boston, and have the commercials - many, many commercials - in place, and that is tiresome, certainly at the pub, anyway. I have never bothered to watch the show except at movie nights at Steamers, so I guess I must also think they lack a certain something... I find the magazine, which spawned the TV show, can be awkward and offputting.
It's a fine line though isn't it? Modifying something, I mean. It is nice to start with something that nobody (you think) would ever defend of feel proprietary about in it's stock form, or some poor wrecked basket case, and yet, no matter what you do, or what you do it to, there will be someone who shakes his head and says, 'ain't that a shame?' The few real Harley guys who have looked at my Sportster - the having of which is already indicative of my suspect taste - have walked around it, shrugged, and said, 'well, different anyways.' In spite of the fact that almost every bike gets some modification - even for strictly utilitarian purposes - people are as likely to be put off by as enthusiastic about changes. Intrinsic to the highly tribal character of motorcycle guys, I think; our nature. One guy's awesome ape-hangers are another guy's clubman bar parts...
