rides this year?
« on: January 18, 2012, 09:01:34 AM »
I was wondering if the club had any rides planned yet for this year?  I know Im a bit of a saddist when the weather is like this but I was just wondering so it could potentially give me something to work towards and light a fire under my ass to get the BSA up and ready to go.......
Hope everyone is staying warm out there, it is now officially too cold (-25deg C) to enter my shop, untill I get a better heating system worked out.  Damn.......now I actually have to talk with the wife in the evenings :'( (hope she doesnt read this)

Fort Fraser rally dates I just got- July 7&8. Should be a post back aways on the Indian Bob ride. Allwynn Long memorial ride for Hospice is the first weekend in August. Plus many others. When the new all clubs calendar comes out we'll know more.

This will actually be a topic for discussion at our next meeting.

I will be suggesting that we simply share a list of the events we know of and are keen on.  We do not have to do events as a group, but it is much more fun when there are a bunch of us present.

In the last couple of years, there has generally been at least one weekend event that we do as a "club" thing.  Last year it was the campout/rainout at Fort Fraser.  The year prior we road to Mackenzie and had a campout at McLeod Lake.  As these were "club" events, we discussed them at meetings and even injected money.

I believe we are moving towards the Bob Lundblom ride being our "club" event.  It is to be a ride to Likely and campout at Bob's place on Quesnel Lake.  We are still working on it.  It is to be a smaller affair (club members and invites sort of thing, not a big bash).

Other events are less formal, but again, the more the merrier.   The Father's Day Show n' Shine is one I push/encourage/guilt our members to attend.  Last year we were the only club there with a "club" presence.  We definately stood out as far as motorcycle clubs, and it was a proud moment.

There are lots of events throughout the summer.  I am planning on the Vernon run, and actually plan to take both the Friday and Monday off work so I can totally soak in the whole weekend.  We had a surprisingly good turnout there last year.  Free camping on site (if you are a "participant", which is a pretty low threshold), a restaurant, cool bikes and amateur dirt oval racing.  I am even eyeing up my BSA as a possible contender for the flat track.

The Hospice ride/weekend is another good one.  I missed last year, but the year before was awesome.  Great campout.  'Ol fashioned biker party with music, pig roast, games and putting around the campsite having a drink with old and new friends.   Highlights were watching Fast1 rip through the campground standing on the seat of his bike, and putting around in the Chang with my wife dressed like DaisyMae riding in the sidecar getting sloppy on coolers.

At 29 below this morning, I am looking forward to the riding season and the events we attend.

Peace & Grease, Dennis
