I am hosting a tech night at my place on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 6:30.

The plan is to try to start up my BSA.  To those who have not heard about it, it was a barn find that seems very complete.  However, other than kicking it over to see if there is compression, I have not even tried to see if there is any spark.  This is an old (1956) bike with a magneto.  It should be a learning experience for everyone who has never dealt with such old machines.

I am also planning to start my drag bike.  It ran well when I pulled the engine from a perfectly good 1976 IT400 Yamaha and installed it in a home made rigid frame.  I have been able to get spark, and the carb looks clean.  Otherwise, I have been leaving the initial start up for a club event.  This would be great for you two stroke and vintage dirt bike fans.

The 883 will just have to wait.  I stil have not got the oil tank plumbed or purchased a battery.  Next time...

Sounds good Dennis. Will try to make it. Since I quit working on sleds and dirt bikes I go through two stroke smoke withdrawls occasionally. Throw some Klotz octane boost in with some good mix oil and it smells better than your wife. Strange the things you become accustomed to in a shop. Shoulda' left the knobbies on so we could test drive it!

Bulldog and Jeff came by today and did on once over on the M21 so that Tuesday has a better chance of success.  Oil from the tank had seeped into the sump.  We drained it.  Way too much oil in the primary chain housing.  Drained that too.  Checked for spark and its sparky.  Took off the gas tank so that there would be room to fart around.

Drag bike is pretty much ready also.  I just need to tighten up the engine bolts.

I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.

Thanks to all who attended.  It was pretty awesome to share the start up of those bikes with my buddies.  Thanks to Hans and Kurt for the pics and vid.  I wish I had a vid of the M21 because that old girl sounded pretty cool.

That was great hearing those bikes starting up.  Although the drag bike was as might loud to even those of us with reduced hearing.
