BBQ at the Starck's Cabin at Francois Lake
« on: March 13, 2016, 08:40:13 PM »
Meet at Bon Voyage 10:00am? (to be confirmed).  The ride to Olaf's place is about 180km.

There are decent areas of flat grass to pitch tents.  Also, the spare room in the cabin has 2 bunk beds (especially suitable if anyone's kids are coming). We'll have to discuss in advance to avoid double bunking--and please bring your own sleeping bags.  The bottom of one of the bunks is a twin bed.  I could also clear the boat out of the garage to make room.

Please be careful on Francois lake Road.  There's lots of mule deer everywhere and there's winter sand on the road all summer long

HIGH TECH DIRECTIONS
-Lat&long: 54?00'30.2"N 125?14'55.2"W
-google maps reference: https://www.google.ca/maps/place/54%C2%B000'30.2%22N+125%C2%B014'55.2%22W/@54.0083986,-125.2497683,284m/data=!3m2!1e3!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x0

OLD FASHIONED DIRECTIONS:
-1 minute west of Fraser Lake take the Francois Lake turnoff on the south side of the road.  (The road sign points to Francois Lake Resort Area, Molyhills Golf course)
-our driveway is opposite telegraph pole #178--approximately 42 km past Fraser Lake

This is the most recent information I can find.  Is this still the plan?
Anything anyone has to add to the above directions or departure time/venue, now would not be too soon.  Lets be clear well in advance.

10:00 am at Bon Voyage sounds like a good plan to me.  I'll be there.

The barbeque is very much on for June 4 out at our Francois Lake place.  I've got the suckling pig ordered and have the spit fabricated and tested.  5 bags of charcoal, plus hotcake mix and sausages and coffee have been procured for breakfast on sunday morning.  I plan to start roasting the pig at ~12:00 noon saturday June 4.

I'm expecting fellows to drop off sleeping bags and tents, and whatever beverages are to be schlepped out to Francois.  Meet at our Rainer Crescent place on Thursday nite June 2 after dinner.  7:30 ish.  I'm heading out to Francois on Friday Morning.

A new info: the spare room in the cabin has become spare again.  It contains 2 bunk beds, the bottom of one is a double.  These are now available for saturday nite June 4th.  I'd like to propose that first refusal should go to fellows who are bringing wives or girlfriends.   You must bring own sleeping bags--I don't do linen.  There is also a boathouse--8'x8' that contains boat stuff (small outboard, water pump) but could accomodate one guy or 2 friendly people.  The boathouse doesn't contain any furniture so a guy would need an air mattress.  Let me know if you are interested in any of these accomodations. Despite the storm outside, various Google weather searches all suggest that Saturday and Sunday are going to be mostly sunny and above 20 degrees.  This should be a great ride.

My spouse is coming.  I hope there will a few "significant others" even though Lauri can hold her own with a group of guys.

If anyone has last minute stuff they need hauled out, let me know as Lauri is taking our camper van.

So do I, but I've decided it can wait.  Mental health first.

Yeah, I have things that have been waiting to get done for so long I may forget about them altogether.
Too late for me to worry about mental health though.
See you at the Bon Voyage.

A thought - The Endako Bar and Grill is under new management and opens at noon, that would be just about right if we leave PG at 10.  The Endako Mine Road is paved through to Francois Lake Road.....  a thought....

Edit: make that it looks paved on Google Maps, and the Provincial Digital Road Atlas lists it as paved.  I have no first hand knowledge otherwise.

I was thinking about lunch also.  It appears Olaff has dinner and Sunday breaky covered, so a lunch stop would be good.  I've always like the Endako bar as a bike stop.  Old fashioned, not hipsterized pub.
