What I seem to be reading here is that you took an unfamiliar bike, too fast into a corner and got into trouble... right? It certainly wasn't the fault of the bike, unless there is a mechanical issue of some sort. After all it would appear that the owner rode it from McBride to where you picked it up.You are lucky someone wasn't coming as well as equally lucky that there was no sand/ice on the road, which could have put you in the ditch.
This little event should serve as a bit of a warning to all of us who ride different styles of bikes. They all have different handling characteristics, as well as braking and acceleration abilities. So take it easy until you are used to the bike. After all it is still early spring.
At least that is the way I see it.
