An old friend has finally decided to part with his XS650.  He has had it since the early 70's and I believe he is the second owner.   28,000 miles.  He is offering it up to Club members first.  He does not have a listing price for it yet.  I told him that most of us are cheap skates, and while we would love it and give it a good home, cash is sketchy with many of us.  If interested, let me know.

I could not cut and paste the one photo of the whole bike, sorry.

Peace & Grease. Dennis

Nice, looks like a large version of my 125.

I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.

I ran into the wife of the owner on Tuesday and learned that he still has this old bike.  Never bothered to list it.  Not too keen to list it (although his wife is putting on the pressure).  We never before came up with even a ball park price.   I called him up tonight for some more "feelers" and was thinking of a low ball price of $500 but suggested he should sell it realistically for $1500 to someone else.   He said he would not let it go for less than $1500.  However, he is just about to leave town for 2 months of globe trotting and does not want people coming by to look at it.  He will revisit selling in the spring time.

So stay tuned if this is something you would be interested in.  Price is too rich for me when I already have three xs650s.  However, for a member looking for his first restoration project, this would be an excellent candidate.  $1500 is actually a fair price.  I have seen many advertised for more, but you seldom find out what they actually end up selling for.

From what he says, the pictures look better than the actual condition.  Apparently the tach got broke and some other things need fixing.  It has the old style forks but a disc brake.

Peace & Grease, Dennis
