"Big Dean"
« on: August 26, 2012, 10:09:05 AM »
One of Stu's best "mates" and co-worker passed away in Vanderhoof on friday.
Dean was also the organiser of the Fort Fraser bike rodeo this year and was sitting at Stu's marker site last Sunday on his Red harley when the rest of us arrived.
Dean was taken down by massive heart attack.
The service for Big Dean will be held at the Vanderhoof Elks hall Saturday, Sept 1.
It would be great to organise a ride to attend.

If I am thinking of the right person, I believe I met him for the first time at Ian's place after Stu's memorial placement. He struck me (and Josie) as someone we would enjoy knowing.
A ride to his service in Vanderhoof is a great idea. Count me in.

When I crashed Allwynn's chopper by Bednesti on my way to meet Stu for a ride and a beer We ran into Dean and Shelley at the trunk. Ended up at their place. Dean lent me his bike washing gear and hose. Then he grabbed my bars and pulled them straight. I dare you to tell where they were bent. A good friend. I will miss him. Have one with Stu for me mate. Cheers.

I am sorry to hear the passing of one of Stu's friends.  I did not know him but he sounds like a great guy.  He will be missed I am sure.  I wish I could make the ride but I will be in Alberta hunting dinosaurs.   I better  bring a big gun.

Big Dean was a gentle giant. He looked like a biker Santa with glasses and played the part on many Fort Fraser Rally's. His place was close to the house Stu shared with Diane. We will get there. Cheers.

I know most of you didn't know Dean so am not expecting many. I will be leaving the shell across from Cycle North at 9:30 sharp. If you miss me go through Hooterville, past the scales then turn left on Spruce rd., first driveway on the right. CHEERS!

So the ride there was very unpleasant. Likely style rain from my driveway to Stu's marker. My fault, spent 2 hours polishing the bike yesterday. Gradual clearing to a decent day. About 20 bikes on the memory ride, 10 more at the service. Mysteriously popped the main fuse 4 blocks from the hall. Near as many as Stu's. A decent send off then over to the Trunk for a pint. An uneventful ride home. All in all a good day. CHEERS.

Fast One: I was thinking of you this morning when I was working outside in the rain, and thinking that you would ride to Vanderhoof for a memorial ride in Katrina.  Big on you dude.  I believe the family of people who have lost a loved one appreciate "rides."  There are flowers, and donations to charity but when a motorcyclist's buddies choose to ride en masse its just a great statement.

Peace & Grease, Dennis

It would have been a misserable ride, and a few did it....not I.  But I make up for that by taking a few shots....I am off tomorrow for a week or so..would have had these up earlier, but my computer was acting up.....
