1980 CB 750 picture and rant
« on: November 27, 2011, 10:41:59 PM »
Here is my CB 750.......THE WORST PROJECT I HAVE EVER UNDERTAKEN!!!!!!  I am a sucker for people telling me things are in "good shape"  or they were running untill parked about a year ago.  I got the bike as a "steal of a deal"  and it ran untill parked last year. Unfortunately I entered a time warp and a year meant 5-10 years because I have never seen the internals of a bike so rusted solid.  If anyone ever wants to get me worked up over beers just bring up this bike for hours of me venting.  but here it is almost finished minus its carbs and a bad oil leak after just 2 km on a completely rebuilt motor (my fault im the only one that worked on it)  but There is still something sexy about these bikes.  they are no british beauties but man are they fast and smooth. It has braided stainless brake lines, shorty muflers, all gloss black, LED blinkers, bored out cylenders, basically a brand new engine.  It needs a frame painting and a few cosmetics but its fast.  I do have a few parts if anyone needs stuff just let me know.

Cant wait to redo the seals and show it off next spring.

I had a similar experience with a 1979 super sport. Traded it from a friend who said it was running when he parked it. What he neglected to say was running poorly and parked in the middle of the yard for 2 years. Arrived in Chetwynd with a battery expecting to ride it home. HAHAHA!!!! Had to phone the wife to come get me. Never could get that p.o.s. to run right. Sold it cheap now it makes the rounds from one hopeful sucker to another....

My nephew Elliot (new club sorta member) is working on one of these in my garage.  He loves it and says it goes like a bat out of hell.

If he needs any parts, let me know I have two of them for parts in boxes in the shop.
Today is a good day,  I got the 750 fired up and screaming.  Totally stoked that it is up and going.  I used to have the CB 500 when my kid was still in diapers, I built a farmer looking side car and we drove it year round on vancouver island.  It was fast but they can be a pain in the ass to tune.
