For sale- down to $ 3,500! 2000 model in good condition ride away. Dave Owen from Sears is needing to sell this bike before he moves. Would kill my license in a week or would buy it myself. If you care it is a real nice candy red. If anyone is interested call him at 564-5041. Bike is listed on kijiji if you want more details.Cheers.

Kurt Brewer and I ended up in a big line of bikes trailing what we at the time thought was a girl with a blonde ponytail on a big Harley (unusually beardy, when I saw 'her' pulled off the road) on the way to 100 Mile House, and I was riding right behind what I assume was Dave Owen on that bike;  it was certainly hypnotic in red with the biggest single can I had seen to that point - I do love the appearance of the bike.  On the downside, mileage is getting high, and I have heard two separate stories of serious accidents that bike has been in, which might be neither here nor there, except that bike has what they are calling a monocoque chassis - something I haven't seen on a bike, and wouldn't want to see, I don't think, after an accident.
So that's why I am just a casually interested observer...

Dave Owens ZX12 has been in at least 2 accidents, one was somewhere around Pine Centre, the other I am not sure. And the mileage is high on the bike....before anybody gets interested..........oh yeah, it is a good looking bike and the colour is nice.....if Russell isn't interested , think twice........

Dave assures me damage on both occasions was only cosmetic, repairs paid by i.c.b.c. Fella over there last night in a Mercedes convertible- might be gone already. You know I wouldn't sell either of mine for this paltry sum. My old boss paid that much for a chrome billet front wheel.Cheers.

So what is the monocoque chassis as applied to a motorcycle?  Does the engine hang from, and the steering head attach to, the airbox or something? and swingarm attach to the battery box?  There aren't any frame ubes at all?

Goes over the top of the engine, no down tubes or separation of frame rails.

By way of comparison, I paid less for my FZ-1with 23000km, all depends what you want though.
I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.

Actually, that's quite like the modern alloy frames;  is it steel or alloy?  I was wondering what bodywork would be integral, and the answer is - not much.  Someone said that the motor comes out to adjust the valves, and I guess hanging like fruit from the airbox, it would have to.  Still, not as off-the-wall as I was assuming under it's clothes.  I guess I was thinking the inside and outside were one and the same...
