fast1's my hero

If fast1 can jump out of perfectly good aeroplanes without damaging any brain cells I figure I can fly in a 1943 9 cylinder Stearman Bi-plane.
Wot the heck, we did loops, barrel rolls and my favourite the falling leaf (thats the one where you go straight up till the engine just about stalls and then the pilot kicks it over on its side and lets it fall out of the sky) what a rush.

And very, very jealous!   The Stearman was  about the best of the bi-planes. Would love to have had that ride!! What kind of altitude did you gain? open cockpit must have a hell of a view.  Makes you appreciate the conditions W.W.1 pilots endured. Beautiful plane Steve, thanks for sharing.

Very appealing plane - though I'm sure as it 'fell out of the sky' I would have been thinking differently, had I been on board instead of Terry.

So..uhh... sorry for calling you Steve, Terry. Very obvious after looking at the passenger, not drooling on the plane like I was. So you to are a world traveler. Can't wait till you return and tell us stories with that great accent ( god I miss Stu).

Hey fast1 I understand, haven't seen you for a while.
FYI- max altitude we reached 1300 ft, max speed in the dive 100 knots, pulled 3 g's in the loop.
Also got 3 videos from behind me and from infront during the flight. I am going to recut the vids to just show the aerobatic portion, much shorter and easier to watch, then I will post them here for your entertainment.

Well 1300 feet is too low to jump safely, we bail over three thousand. Don't know how fast a hundred knots is but when I let go of the wing strut I'm going forward at 80 m.p.h. and a cool 100 m.p.h. downhill. That is why you have to arch or the wind throws ya around like a rag doll. Did you leave your stomach at the top of the dive???? Damn that must have been some fast falling!

Googled knots to miles..... 100 knots is 115 miles an hour. I always forget to breath during the falling part. Did you??

I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.

Wing suits have actually been advancing quickly-- within the next 5 years parachute free landings will become common....can't wait!!!

There was a YouTube clip circulating about a year ago with a fantastic video of a guy with a winged suit flying by a group of spectators on what looked like a mountain road switch back.   The video included onboard shots and the shot as he blew by the spectators.  I heard the dude later died doing the same sport.  Sometimes all junkies, adrenaline or otherwise have an overdose.

Peace & low speed thrills, Dennis.
