Mancave project continues
« on: February 13, 2022, 07:25:12 PM »
Work has been progressing although the pace hasn't been torrid.  In just about all the installation disciplines I'd get fired if I was doing this for a living--I'm just too slow.  But, I'm learning lots and having fun most of the time.  Work done since my last post:
-Wiring rough-in complete and approved by the electrical inspector.  1 circuit activated for light and minor heat.
-Insulation & vapor barrier complete and approved by the building inspector.  This wasn't fun because of the very cold weather in December and January.  On
the other hand, the building code requires lots of insulation, so now a little 600W electric heater keeps the shop warm.
-Drywall installed and mudding is underway.

It looks more like it will be a luxury tiny house not a workshop.
Obviously all visitors will have to take their boots and shoes off before they enter and probably no drinks or food will be allowed in, let alone a motorcycle to be rebuilt or repaired!

Au contraire!  Motorcycles are allowed so long as they enhance aesthetics.  No ugly bikes.  ;D There is a beer fridge.

I seem to remember BullDog had something of a 'clubhouse' fashioned in one of his garages and now that it is no longer available maybe.................
Why be normal?

Drywall is hung, taping, plastering, painting done.  Overhead door installed and external tarp removed.  Interior window and door trim added.  Rubber cove base installed at the bottom of the walls. About half of the planned shelving is installed.  This week the gas fitter hooked up and tested the unit heater just in time for the end of winter 😆.  The second overhead beam is installed, beam trolleys are fitted and the scaffold taken down.  The ceiling fan is fitted, the compressor is in place and tested as are all other electrical circuits.  Tomorrow the Electrical Inspector is coming for the final inspection and I'm also ordering the exterior siding.  My wife chooses the colors in our household and she's picked 'Boothbay Blue'.  It's just as well because I wouldn't know the difference between Boothbay Blue and periwinkle blue if I was hit over the head with it.

I moved one of my young girls in (the 'Guzzi V7) and started to move in boxes of stuff that I've been acquiring-- it's a bigger pile than I thought. The old girls (the Water Buffalos and the RD400) will be moved in later in the summer.

I love the overhead hoists.

You are going to need to be vigilant to avoid, "Honey, can I store my [fill in] in your shop?"

Already staring to look full, you’re going to need a lean to on the end for any of the extra stuff. Other than that it’s looking good.
