Mancave project underway
« on: April 30, 2021, 07:39:00 PM »
A few days work so far--banging up walls.  I'm sure glad that I bought most of my lumber last year.

Trusses are all up, partial hip gable ends framed and sheeted (partial hips are a pain in the butt but they look good!), rake overhang outlookers installed, eave and rake overhang fascia boards mounted, roof deck sheeting started.

Really cool bikes (i.e. any bike that enhances the look of the shop) may park on the back lawn. Ordinary bikes will park in the back lane or on the front driveway. Ugly bikes will part in front of the neighbors.

The roll-up door does not face the lane because it isn't a 'designated laneway'. (I tried but they wouldn't issue a building permit)  It's a BC Hydro right-of-way; apparently there's a difference.

I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.

It doesn't look like much progress from the outside, but I've been busy:
-Roof shingles on. (I hired a contractor-- I'm no spring chicken so am happy to pay younger men to do roofing)
-Overhead monorail in place.  The monorail is supported by a structure that's completely separate from the roof trusses.
-Electrical cable in the ground (50 amp service, 230 Volts, 60' run, 6/0 copper Teck.  No damn aluminum cables on this project).  Passed electrical inspection
-Conduit for Cat 6 communication cable in the ground.
-Natural gas line in the ground.  (30k BTU, 100' run). Passed gas inspection.
Enough digging for one summer.  Whew!
