Handlebar Tie-Down
« on: May 30, 2013, 09:41:45 PM »
When Fritz picked up the parts bike for me the seller loaned him a tie-down made specifically for handlebars. It was made out of fabric and worked really well on the BMW with the fairing.
They are made from polyester webbing by Canyon Dancer(canyondancer.com).
Rusty also mentioned this type of tie-down as well and either has one or has used one similar to them.
Anyways, since the fairings on the K100s make it difficult to tie down the front end I will probably purchase a Canyon Dancer Bar Harness as they call them.

Used to sell a lot of them, now nobody in town does. Cats ass for anything with or without a fairing. The hooks don't touch the bike. Good ones have a felt liner and they're easy to use. Not recommended for pullbacks or rubber mounted bars. Sounds like a commercial. CHEERS.

The only issue I have with the canyon dancer is the turn signal switch on my 999 got busted trucking it up from Vancouver once. You have to make sure the canyon dancer is clear of  anything on the handle bars that it could hook and snap off.

I need a little more advice please.
My options for the Bar-Harness II are 28, 32, 36, or 40 inches. The width of my handlebars on the present bikes is 24 inches.
However as a few PGVMCC have pointed out to me, some day I may purchase a real vintage bike. So should I purchase the widest Bar-Harness or pick the 32 or 36 inch ones? For the different bike manufacturers are handlebar widths all over the place or they a fairly standard width.
