I have exchanged emails with this fellow.  The bike is in Willow River.  I was hoping to get out there last weekend, but just could not fit it in my schedule.  The fellow's name is Scott.  He can be reached at tbird_guy@hotmail.com or by responding to the Kijiji ad.  Because I could not get out there when I hoped, I promised him I'd put it on our forum.

In my opinion, having bought many a well worn motorcycle, this bike looks pretty good from the photos, and is a good platform for many projects.  It is a little new for restoration, but maybe easily made into a survivor.  The number of members with experience getting registration is growing, and that should not deter anyone (other than the hassle factor).

For $200 it strikes me as a pretty good deal.  I beleive one of my nephew's buddies just bought an engine (same model) from Honest Roy's for the same price.

I'd almost buy it sight unseen if someone else wanted to take my cash and do the trip.

Scott got back to me with some further gems.  I have put a portion of his emails in quotation marks.

"If anyone would be interested I have a 78 Yamaha DT400. I've owned it for 14 years now, was my first motorbike. It lost spark a couple years ago believe it's the cdi or maybe the stator. died a couple times but started back up then flat out quit one day. There is a guy in vanderhoof that has a parts bike and said he would sell me the cdi and stator for $100 just never got to it. Too many other projects which is why I'm trying to get rid of some stuff.

"Also have a 82 XT550 without engine. Was going to put something in there but it's been sitting in the shed for 3 or 4 years now so..

"And a 74 Yamaha RS100 that I would like to find an engine for. The top end was stuck from sitting so I pulled the engine and tore it down theb most of the bottom end got stolen. They changed the engine mounts in 75-76 and I never had any luck finding another early bottom end. I've had this one for as long as the DT. Would like to get it back together but would let it go to the right person.

Dunno if any of those would be of interest but I really should get rid of them."

Dibs  on the DT

I live with fear and danger everyday, but sometimes I leave her at home and go motorcycling.

This thread can be deleted,
Fixed up the bike with lots of left over parts from my othe cm 400's. It starts great but I have yet to take it on the roads.

Told my brother inlaw he could have the bike ifnhe got the papers in his name. Started the process in jan and got the papers in his name last week. Big thanks to Paul and Dennis for the help, my brother inlaw really appreciated the support from this community.
