Title: Down in the Desert - sort of
Post by: BRUMMIEBEEMER on February 26, 2012, 09:27:48 PM
Mooching around in a town called Tehachapi close to Bakersfield ca and came across this guys shed full of, you guessed it, bikes. Mainly Greeves. All in running order the main one against the truck is his daily runabout. It is a '63 he bought in '64 and has rebuilt it 3 times. The BSA is a 650 Street/Tracker ready for rebuild.
Nice what you find when you ain't looking

Interesting lot of bikes. Like the tank on the blue one---roy had a Greeves like that but wouldn't sell just the tank, of course he wanted twice what the whole bike was. His was missing the engine and many key components. Of course as soon as I found out what it was he thought it was special. Unmistakable forks on those gems. Thanks for sharing!!

I lived in Bakersfield in the early '70s. The oil fields were full of dirt bikes every weekend.

Last day in the desert today. Desert Hot Springs was a balmy 38 deg f last night. Yup a bit of a dip from the 80 deg 2 nights ago. Head back to the snow tomorrow. Its been a good 4 weeks down here, unfortunately the waistline has took a bit of a beating, must work on it when I get back.
