Title: 1958 BSA M21
Post by: Dennis on September 06, 2011, 01:32:32 AM
This bike as on craigslist in the Cariboo.  It is located (literally) in a barn north of 108 mile about 7 kms off the highway down a road too rough for a Toyota Yaris (but I  did it anyway).

I have a bad photo which was emailed to me and I will try to add later.

The M21 is a 600cc single cylinder flathead.  It followed the M20 which was the main British workhorse during WWII.

I checked this bike out on Sunday.  It is not restored, but is in very good shape.  It was made into a chopper in the late 60's but in a low buck way.  A home made banana seat and tall sissy bar have been added, the handle bars are ape hangers, and the rear fender has been all hacked up.  Otherwise, from what I observed it is stock.

Telescopic forks, plunger rear suspension, stock amal (monoblock?) carb, and all the various frame tabs and weld ons seem unmolested.

The seller is asking for $3K.  Guy has opined $900 to $1500 as a range based only on the poor photo I sent.

I would guess this bike should be in the mid to high range after looking at it, just because it appears so complete.

I have not made an offer, but thought club members may be interested in this bike.  I may make an offer, but I am trying to stick to my vow of no more motorcycles.  However, I did sell the Rebel on Friday ....
