Looking forward to this one...Have to say that it is one of my favorite dirt shredders...Will need to keep an eye out for another one....

I found a set of Fox shocks from an Arctic Cat but they were only 14.5 inches so I had to lengthen them to 17 inches

Cut eyes off the bottom of the
Fox shocks and cut a 2.5 inch section off the old shocks and welded them to the Fox shocks

Just need to make a coller to cover the section welded together to have more of a factory look.

Great pics, I liked your idea for the shocks. Much more reasonable considering the cost of new ones.
-
Hmm; the Sportster needs unusually long shocks for a streetbike (14"-14 1/2") I wonder if this strategy could be employed there. I'd rather change the mounts, but they are already pretty goofy on the swingarm end, and making a tower to allow a regular-length shock is not going to improve things in the looks dept. Sometimes the eye ends unthread from the rod, I wonder if I could find a set I could replace with longer pieces...
Excellent bodge, Dave.

Looks awesome; really tough. Not for the weak of constitution or stumpy of leg...
-
Thanks Russ I think the front forks are weak though :-\
-
That's ok, ride it like it was meant to and the front doesn't touch the ground much.
-
That turned out awesome.
