Anybody use one of these top end kits. Any horror or happy stories. Thinking of refreshing the top end of the FJ, maybe also thinking of going whole hog and putting in the big bore kit. Insurance on the FJ runs out next month, if I get my garage cleaned up, the engine comes out the next day to see what is where.

Hans, you might want to check out these guys.....atvunlimited.....ebay seller, item number 230470749004.
I have talked to them and the kit has all of the things you need, to go bigger. The price is a few hundred cheaper than buying from wisco either in the u.s. or Canada.
Don't ask where the red squiggles came from. They just appeared. Hey, I just figured out that they are some kind of spell checker. Could use it for scrabble.

Thanks Ken. I've seen their eBay ads. Priced out oem. Seems like that would be more expensive.
Have you checked out www.fjowners.com

Yes. I joined a long time ago so that I could read all the threads. Are you rebuilding stock or thinking of the HR? HR would probably be a lot more fun. But who knows how long it would last. They do have a good rep--Wisco that is. A lot of aftermarket sleds run their pistons.

Completely undecided, the 1314 kit looks intriguing, but the first overbore kit looks safer. Not going to even consider the 12:1 pistons, I think those are for the Legends Racers who don't mind rebuilding every year. So far it looks like the standard Wiseco kit will come in a couple of hundred bucks cheaper than the Yamaha OEM parts, that goes quite a way to paying for the rebore. The big kit requires resleeving and engine case machining, so more bucks there.

This may be a viable alternative??? Only 750.

Lots of parts to resell. Upon a closer look the fairing looks like an 1100.
