a lady at work is taking a bike trip through Montana, Waterton Park etc.
she is wondering if anyone has a must do or must not ride from that area?

I'd cross into Washington as far west as possible because the traffic is light compared with Southern MC. Then stay on the Northern most roads right thru Washington, Idaho and into Montana. Avoid riding at dusk or dawn--too much wildlife on the roads.
Highway 2 thru Glacier National Park is highly recommended. Also in Montana, I camped in a state park called Deadmans Basin right in the center of the state. Beautiful spot.
The area around Billings is to be avoided. Huge coal mining region and flat straight highways. I have fond memories of my visit to Yellowstone in the mid 1980s. Apparently now it's terribly inundated with tourists.
