DENNIS: The stock negative ground wire was thin gauge and bolted to a 10mm screw in aluminum, and shared duty as holding the speedometer cable in place.

The negative ground should be substantially mounted.

BMW engineers are as short-sighted as any.

Hi Dennis, the new ground strap runs to the rear cradle/shock mount.
Ground to the engine could easily be lost as the rear section is only bolted to the front cradle and the front cradle is where the engine/ starter are grounded?
