Since Cynthia and I both need to submit our vacation requests for next year in the near future I was just wondering if anything might be planned for next year. I know this is rather early for many it is routine for us, we get used to planning ahead. I had such a great time riding out to Q-balls place this year that another ride with the pgvmcc would be something I would book vacation time for, even be nice to bring my wife. ( depending on what is running she might have to travel in a vehicle ) The sooner I know what is happening the more likely we can both go, my time is much more flexible than hers. Another trip to Rosswood and nice weather for a ride north would be nice, even something in the Prince George area would be good. Maybe even a ride to Francois Lake if anyone has a place to party ( yes Olaf I'm thinking of you). Lots of back roads that can be accessed from there, both sides of the highway. Just thought I'd throw this out there to see where it goes, anything west is again welcome here for food, beverage and rest.

Unfortunatly there are only two directions to ride in Smithers unless you want to explore gravel. Using Smithers as a starting point a ride up to Hyder might be fun, haven't ridden there in over 20 years. Our place could be used as a stop both direction if that works, it's about 4 hours or so to Hyder and there's things to see and do there as well as food and beverage availability. Also accommodations are there as well as camping. If the weather is nice it is beautiful there, if not it really SUCKS. Maybe we should just meet in the middle and take over the Endako Hilton and explore the back roads around there. I will be spending some time looking at my maps, maybe even take some extra time off and travel south of P.G.

Think pavement. Not too many Club members have dual sport bikes.
I did Hyder in 2006 on a cafe'd xs650. Got Hyderized and rode home through the night; a 14 hour ride.
While the season isn't over for me yet (four more weeks of insurance), the only thoughts I've given to next year is that I now actually have a bike that I'd trust on a road trip without my wife following with a trailer.
O'keefe's is a definite. Sometime before next summer my wife will be orchestrating a family road trip which will trump any bike plans. 'Tis marital bliss.
Keep up the dialogue gentlemen. A road trip that could work for a larger group would be great.

I would still like to ride the highway north of q-balls place, it's a great road right to the ocean and some very interesting scenery. Just not sure if people want to ride the same direction again, plus it's quite a ways from PG. One thought is to tour the Horsefly Likely area and bring my wife and stay awhile, we have talked about spending some time exploring that area for years. Don't know what there is to see nor what the roads are like there, always up for another adventure though. What are your thoughts.

Re: Horsefly Likely area, its beautiful, but gravel. I few years ago I did a Jeep trip where I wanted to go as far as I could from Prince George on forest service roads. I made it almost to Revelstoke and only was on pavement for short bits around Likely, Horsefly, Canim Lake, and crossing Highway 5 near Avola.
Maybe we should start a "Dual Sport" thread to plan some trips and/or day rides. Whenever I am out exploring back roads in my Jeep, I'm often thinking about interesting circle trips for dual sport bikes. I'm always looking for trips that would be interesting (not just driving for kms through trees and clear cuts) and within the ranges of most gas tanks. Mix up some highway, gravel forest service roads and a trail or two.

Andrea and I would be into hosting the club at our Francois Lake Place. It's a little more rustic than Ian's place. Cold running water. Composting toilet, with shit-house backup. Greywater pit. Great fishing in June, July, August. Usually too cold to waterskii. The bugs generally show up in the first or 2nd week of June.
There is a very strict rule about use of the composting toilet: PEOPLE ON ANTIBIOTICS ARE BANISHED TO THE SHITHOUSE. THE CHEMICAL STEW FROM YOUR ANTIBIOTICS WILL KILL THE COMPOST AND REQUIRES A SHITTY CLEANUP.
May, June, July, early August all work for us. Late August, September is no good--Andrea and I are going to Europe for 3 weeks.
