Title: Also Looking to Purchase Bike for Potential New Rider

Wannabe rider of maturity is looking to purchase a bike that he can learn to ride and take his road test on. Not a tall person.
Appreciate any leads for a good starter bike.
Is there  engine size limit for new riders that they must adhere to?

You need to keep a close eye on Kijiji.   An XS400 was on this afternoon.  $600 and it looked like it was in great shape. Gone by this evening.

A test on a 250 and smaller limits your license, so I recommend 300cc and up.

XS 400 was my first bike and was fantastic!  it was peppy and capable to do highway speeds, but small enough to whip it around and easy to handle.
