Title: Peggy Sue's bike got cured
Post by: fast1 on March 27, 2015, 10:49:04 PM
For any body who doesn't know Peg's CM 400 Honda seemed to have an incurable mallady a couple of years back. Dave horton then acquired it. Going through his parts bin he installed a used set of carbs. Sold it to his brother in law Jeff. Ran okay but had a huge midrange flat spot. Tonight we removed the carbs and thoroughly cleaned them and removed the springs from the air cut valves--a curse on this style of carb. Jeff now has a BIG smile. CHEERS.

With that exhaust and the cut off springs gone it's got a fantastic POP when decelerating now.

The cursed carbs are still sitting in my garage hopefully just to be used for parts but the spare set that we threw in got Jeff through a season and hopefully a lot more to come now that they are cleaned and rocking.

Thanks again Wayne, as always I learned a lot about a lot of things.

So glad to hear that damn bike is finally running proper.  After all the farting around....man I hate those honda carbs!  Good for you guys getting her going proper!
