Did another resto this past winter. Here is a photo of when i got it. I started with a lot of bike on this one for a change. It was a lot of fun and i would recommend a resto to anyone that can get one. Here is a photo the day i brought it home, the bugs were making a condo between the fins.

A 400/4 is always a good looking bike - and this one is, of course, now a particularly nice example. Excellent work, as you always do. I see it's a later model from the covered gas cap - does that make it a '76 or a '77?

Looks great. How do you get the engine so clean? taking away the tarnished look?
-
Looking fantastic as always, great to see you are still bringing these jewels back to life. I remember well when these were new, fond memories of many good times.

You are correct Rusty B it is a 1977. Sorry i forgot to post the year.Honda made them in 75,76,and77.
benW -- this particular model ,the engine was painted exept for the barrels, head and bottom cases. So that is what i did. Honda Dave ,here in peachland has a 75 and he told me the color to use. Great having a knowlegable peer group (like this forum) to help out. It was rough and as you can see in the before photos , i sanded and polished the deep gouges before paint.
Nice to hear from you Bob ! Stop by if you are in K-town.
