Title: SRX400
Post by: Hans on February 08, 2014, 10:47:51 PM
It's completely apart.  So, the frame, paint or powdercoat.   If powder coat, where and what amount of my own prep do I need to do.  Lots of threaded bits that would need protecting, steering stem, and swing arm pivot.

Hans I use Prism powder coating they do a decent job and reasonable. They also are the ones that donated the powder coating for the 1972 Yamaha R5 raffle bike which helped cut costs for the club. Remove all rubber, plastics or anything that may burn or deform. If I have forgotten something please let me know someone. I wipe or wash the grease off. They sandblast, plug and protect threads. Mention to them what you would like. Have parts in by mon. or tues.  powder coat thurs. pick up fri. I hope this helps you?

I've hit a milestone in my rebuild, I've stopped taking stuff apart and now have started putting stuff back together.

So far only a couple surprises from the teardown.  The lower frame motor mounts were swapped left for right, a missing frame bolt, and a missing washer/spacer in the left fork leg.

Looking good Hans, glad you are able to do these things to such a great little bike. Makes parting with it less painful.

  Later, Bob

Thanks Bob.  And thanks Rusty for getting my tires mounted and helping get my forks back together.  She's almost on her feet.

On the home stretch, one more solid evening should do the trick.  Excuse the messy garage :)

I assume you are deliberately teasing us with the high-angle pics, waiting for the complete bike to be presented in it's full-frontal and broadside glory... or is  that old shelf with all the hoses and wires on it in the way?

Garage is only 10 feet wide, this is the best I can do until I roll it out into the sun.
